I will say it seems like you guys really are proud of your microlancer colors…. :/

GR was also blue, PD was blue-ish.

Agreed but this is ThemeForest, and also these are microlancer colors, maybe a non-subtle way of possibly trying to get the banner advertisement to appear to match possibly – at least it looks that way. ;)

Gonna hold back from my initial thoughts.

I will say please go thru things today and align all the things. Also check elements are actually using the correct colors, right now for instance the heading background color in the sidebar on forums is fine, but look at the search icon button background, it’s darker still. Also you really cannot tell when you hover pagination here in the footer, goes from white background to barely noticeable slightly not white background but no hover color on the actual number so you can’t even tell.

I also disagree with the statement on branding colors for each marketplace – I think I see where we are heading, but no doubt if I’m correct that could be years away.

I really hope things start to come together – right now it all looks a mess tbh as we’ve got flat, 3d and old and all the colors.

If you are looking to eventually put this as responsive you really need to look at spacing also throughout – such as pagination buttons will be a nightmare being that close to each other etc.

I will say it seems like you guys really are proud of your microlancer colors…. :/

so now i see the best method is ” Display Metaboxes According to the Current Post Format ” if i need to add more options for any format, but if i need to add new post types example [ slider, LightBox and SoundCloud or other ] what should i do if i depend on this default post formats ?
Yes ! That’s the great idea in fact..integrate custom metaboxes with post format..that’s good and reliable way.
And what if customer decided to change the theme? all values defined in non-standard custom fields will not be available for the new theme.

+1 don’t use custom meta boxes.

Here’s my list fwiw:

  • Improve things – don’t just change them.
  • Regain the trust of your users (both buyers and authors)
  • Stop trying to cross promote everything, it looks all google up in here
  • Focus on quality, not just quantity
  • Go back to being an approachable company, not a corporation
  • Get this site up to basic standards of 2014 – that’s a huge list
  • Make better decisions as a CEO in whom you put power
  • Listen to your users
  • Act quicker on some ideas
  • Act slower on other ideas
  • Stop breaking the sites functions and just improve them
  • Get this community back together by creating a more level playing field for all addressing exposure concerns by redeveloping the site to become more search orientated rather than posters of new and best selling only
  • Encourage updates to items by either adding focus on updates or reducing focus on new / best sellers – right now there is NO incentive for authors to make massive updates to files
  • This list could go on for ever
  • Stop making lists and start action
  • You’re not reading this anymore are you?

All the very best in your transition Collis, sorry it came to you having to come back down the ladder, but in all honesty it’s your puppy, your decisions that got us here, and your decisions will set the future – with great power comes great responsibility as they say, and the CEO is ultimately responsible for steering the ship.

“You guys are absolutely right when you say that removing the up / down sort arrow has made a negative impact on usability. However, it’s only true when looked at in isolation. Our goal with the search / browse experience is to make a significant and positive long term impact. “

So if you agree that removing the arrows has reduced usability, then why did you guys do this when the rest of the change that will remove this concern by introducing new things isn’t ready to be shipped? Basically it sounds like this:

1 – we remove something to make it worse 2 – eventually the new shiny thing will fix it

Surely it would be better doing:

1 – remove something, introduce shiny new thing at same time and therefore we have an improvement.

I do understand things have to be done in stages, but why hurt things in the process – make the change a little bigger so the hurt is not an issue.

I appreciate the efforts being made by Envato, I’m just questioning the methods.

There’s nothing stopping you doing this layout in most themes available here tbh. I don’t see anything particularly out of ordinary on the site – let’s break it down, big hero image at top, under it is page content that can be laid out using content in the usual way in WordPress especially using half columns (short codes) that’s all the home page is and 99% of themes have the ability to do this.

As for the blog, there’s literally hundreds of themes with a blog layout like this – right sidebar and content left, each with image, title and meta (to the left) and a read more – again nothing ground breaking, in fact it’s almost box-standard WP blog layout.

I understand and agree with what your saying, but unfortunately I think Envato may see this as a great way of cross-linking different marketplaces. Basically it encourages you to click to a different marketplace because someone you follow has a new file somewhere.

Thanks for the reply. How about shutterstock photos?

“You cannot use any image you do not have rights to use without a license that allows the use in a commercial product”

Therefore check the license :)
