Personally i always turn-off the admin bar on the top because it covers a part of the page and I prefer to see it entirely.

This is only true if the layout is coded incorrectly. A simple fix to the CSS will make the admin bar “push” the content down instead. And I +1 the “reject a theme” idea if it does this. It’s very frustrating to the end user, especially if they don’t know how to turn it back on. I would think you’d get MORE support requests because you’ve turned it off than if you left it on. ;)

||+519153|Reaper-Media said-|| I’d be interested in collaborating if you like, I have many ideas and skills to offer! :)

Absolutely, get in touch with me. We could always use some more designer/developer assets. And a beta account would be part of the package. ;)

Any update on the release?

I don’t want to make any solid promises, but our plan is to soft launch it on or around March 1st.

I understand, but I think it’s unfair to authors who have ticket systems for sale in the marketplace. It would be nice to have a staff/support member explain why this is ok, but other people have been rejected from doing something similar…

”...using the forum to post links to one’s own items, or to give away free files to the community…”

I’m not doing either, though I see your concern. I’m simply trying to promote a great service that will be VERY geared toward helping the Envato community with the lack of good, affordable support systems that are available.

An SAAS is very different than a ticket system you would purchase on CodeCanyon. You would choose to purchase one or the other for different reasons. If you want to host it yourself and customize it to your heart’s content, you’ll get the CodeCanyon file for $25 or whatever it may be. This is a great option for developers who want to customize (or reuse) the code.

If you want a system hosted elsewhere and updated with new features and bug fixes on the fly, then you’d be willing to pay a monthly fee. I don’t think I’m competing, per say, with the downloadable items.

Any idea why my comment was flagged?

Hey Justin – things are looking good and I’m excited for you – just looked at the screen grab on verification and wondered though how we know which product it was they purchased – I may be dumb and not of realized something but thought I would ask anyways.. :)

Jonathan

Each ticket is attached to a product, although they could technically pick a product for the ticket and then paste in a different verification code. I’ll throw the item name in there as well. Nice catch!

I can’t believe the day has arrived and I couldn’t be more proud.

Thanks to everyone who has ever purchased my themes and templates, and a huge thanks to Envato for making it possible. What an amazing ride so far…

Also, this topic is teetering on the brink of a banned forum topic, so let’s just make sure it doesn’t fall over the edge :)

Oh, really? Well we can close the topic here, I recently had an issue and just wanted to remind authors to check up on their “customers” before sending them anything. ;)

Item Baiters. At least, that’s what I call them. Has anyone else had this situation:

  1. A user contacts you with some sort of problem.
  2. You tell them to redownload the item from the marketplace from their “Downloads” page.
  3. They say “I did that but it didn’t work, can you just send me the file?”
  4. You then proceed check if they’ve purchased the item or not and they clearly have not.

Just a warning to authors: Always check if they’ve purchased your file before you go sending it on over to them.

:)
