yeah i’m with jonathan here…

it’s a marketplace, therefore the simple rules of demand and supply will follow. cu3er is starting to reach saturation point now (i.e. oversupply) therefore authors will either naturally move on to another technology, or those that don’t will see lower returns on their work.

Either way – if you’re an author getting upset at all the cu3er designs, just provide an alternative

My point is (and Envato you better LISTEN UP ) if we are not careful this place is going to become the new TemplateMonster.com . Trust me it’s starting to feel that way already.

At some point Envanto has to step in and incentive-ize creativity and deter laziness for the sake of the longevity of this marketplace. This place will become a joke really quickly. I can see the conversation with someone looking at a website now “Ewww…looks like you bought that from Themeforest”

In a creative marketplace it CAN ’T be all about supply and demand. No one is selling widgets here – creativity is what is being sold. When this marketplace looses that for the sake of short term profit for a few uncreative designers – this marketplace looses whatever prestige it has.

As for me I’ll continue to search for the few creative designs on this site but I am slowly turning my attention elsewhere and hoping someone will come up with a marketplace that will have the integrity and courage to BE CREATIVE ALWAYS .
While I disagree with you with the direction Envato is headed, we are always listening to our authors and users, so be advised we hear you loud and clear :)

From my perspective, the market completely drives what sells well, and the authors follow. So if sliders are selling like crazy, expect to see more sliders. Simple as that. Sliders (and CU3ER ) do well because people seem to like them in their sites. Also, we have plenty of creativity here IMO :)

I hope you decide to stay with us and stick around, and like I said, we really are listening, I’ll make a note of this to the staff :)

To everyone – While I understand all of us are passionate about what we do here, let’s try to keep everything civil, respectful, and ensure we do not single out any authors; as this is prohibited.

Drew thanks for letting me vent and listening! I’m impressed by the fact that you guys would take the time to respond and that gives me hope for this marketplace. You are right – there are a lot of creative designers here. The problem is you have to wade through so many carbon copies to find a unique design that does not follow any trends. I’m not saying you should completely remove the “dittos” out there but maybe there needs to be a section for just the TRULY unique designs and categories. Maybe it would reward the risk it takes to be a ground breaker. You guys could select just a few per week and feature them on the site -maybe give them a larger split? I don’t know how the details would work but it would certainly be a safeguard to protect the integrity of the site.

Anyway I appreciate your attention to this. I’d really hate to see such a great resource lose it’s uniqueness.

Seriously guys. I purchase a lot of themes on themeforest and I’m starting to notice some trends. There are a few designers who are creative and original and everyone else just copies trends.

For instance, the 3D slider. I first saw this a few weeks ago. Now it seems every other new design on the marketplace features this 3D slider. This has turned something that was cool int a gimmick. I almost want to trash the theme I bought that includes it!

Envato really needs to put some measures in place to ensure variety on this site. Seriously. All of the themes are starting to look the same. There should be a rule that states that if you are part of a “trend” your themes will only be worth $8 or something low like that. If you make something TRULY original your theme should be worth $40.

Just a thought.

I’m wondering if someone would be up to designing a template for a daycare/preschool. It could be a general early education/non-profit theme. I have a need for one and I just think it would be cool to find some industry specific themes on the site and not just portfolio templates.

Woah – It works now. I had to wrap that around the whole body of the page.

Thanks man! You’re a life saver!

Thanks for responding. Unfortunantly that did not work and the problem is showing up on all of the pages.

I can’t believe this was not tested on IE before being released. Anyway, I’m at a loss. Any other ideas? Thanks!!

Ok guys. I’m in desperate need of help here. I purchased the “Wood Business Theme” yesterday. I checked out the live preview but only in Firefox. Now I’m setting up my site and have come to find out id does not display well in IE.

I just came back and checked out the Live Preview in IE and displays incorrectly there too.

It works perfect in FF and Chrome. Anyone smarter than me have any idea why this is happening? I’d appreciate any help. Thanks!
