Hello

This can’t be possible that we’re trying to get an item approved since January 29 and this item gets soft-rejected 6 times by 4 different reviewers that come up with new arguments every time we submit it

why can’t the review process be performed by 1 reviewer only that will list all the issues once + we understand that a first review can take up to 3-4 days but how can an update (resubmission) take 2 days and more

it’s really frustrating

In my opinion you should be thankful your theme is not approved with all those issues they find. Just improve your testing process, don’t rush things and you’ll have a smaller amount of soft-rejects.

We provide this service and completed it around 10-15 times. In 80% of cases users have theme and WP already installed but get hosting problems (PHP errors, hosting limitations, etc). If this problems is easy we fix it and users are happy, but sometimes problems are complex and we lost some time and money in this case because this does not cost $30 that we got at the end. I think 95% of users does not understand what this service is exactly. They even does not provide all details at the first step (FTP or CPanel for example) or does not add theme documentation (only theme zip). Service is not good described for users, they does not know what they need to provide and what they will get. And I think $50 (with 30% comission) is too less price for this service, because in 90% of cases this is not just clicking 1st button to upload and install theme and 2nd button to import dummy data. In 90% of cases this is resolving hosting problems. Yes, you can send custom proposal and sometimes we do this, but most of all users will not understand why they need to paid more for service that cost $50 and will get you negative feedback.

Agree with you, most of my installation jobs done so far are for clients having hosting issues. It’s usually just a max_execution_time or post_max_size setting in an uploaded php.ini file and I’ll fix this no questions asked. You have to deal with non-techsavvy clients and in my experience it’s best if you state the service conditions up front and explain things clearly from the beginning.

Is creating an invoice by Envato from the author to the buyer for each purchase legal?

When you sell on Envato Market you are agreeing to sell directly to buyers through our platform. When we facilitate these transactions, we create documentation to record each transaction.

I’ll check in with the legal team to see if it would help to have something more explicit in the terms to this effect.

Thank you for your answer, that officially makes us direct sellers from Envato’s point of view. That’s what authors wanted to hear months ago, so they can prepare for the new changes.

And by the way, I don’t recall agreeing to sell directly to buyers (author’s bank account statement reflects the situation perfectly) – I recall doing the creative part in order for Envato to do the rest.

@dtbaker my question was removed from the questions list, why is that?

Is creating an invoice by Envato from the author to the buyer for each purchase legal?

I’m not sure why it was removed, but I just wanted to give you a heads up that it’s not just Dave managing those summaries, even though it was originally his idea / post ;)

I understand, just need an official answer on this. I never gave written and explicit authorization to do invoice in my behalf and want to know if this is legal from Envato’s point of view.

“These threads will remain open for this week” – right, after months of silence…
“We’re going to stick to the platform model that Envato Market has historically operated on” – right, Envato never was the reseller of our products… wait what?!?
Sorry but the whole Envato Marketplace Platform post is one big BS. After reading it I feel like Envato is spiting in our face.

Yes and I can’t help but notice that these important announcements are posted on a Friday which means no real feedback or answers until Monday (2 January)...

Q: Is creating an invoice by Envato from the author to the buyer for each purchase legal?

I don’t need to invoice buyers because there is no direct business between us and I only receive a monthly (or periodical) payment from Envato. We never gave written and explicit authorization to do invoice in our behalf and we have no control over the prices. Please answer this question.
