funny how the ability to complain sometimes “fails to work” on this site. i tried to complain about captcha and suddenly i couldnt complain or even log in because the captcha rejected all of my inputs thus not only making it impossible to log into my account but also impossible to complain about it.
but yes of course we will be patient and not crucify the tech department of this site. god forbid the people that own it know how awful they are.
and now, i am presented with captcha AFTER I log in every time i log in. As if to mock me and make it even more difficult to get access to what was one of my favorite vendors.
i consider this to be harassment and as soon as i have a spare minute will be going upstairs to my lawyer spending some of the money i used to spend on beautiful graphics and videos on envato sites to sue anybody even close to my harassment.
you folks dont want my businesss. i get it. but to torture me further with a captcha EVERY TIME i log on AFTER i log on top get what i already paid for is abuse and I am on a brand new planet of angry.
i am too busy at the moment to do more than yell with rage, knowing that whoever thought it was funny to screw with me will probably enjoy it.
australia isnt far enough. and i am angry enough to spend the money. and spend it LOUDLY . in the meantime i wil continue to shop at the other places i have discovered who don’t have unpaid moderators running amok and bothering good customers.
i hope envato is prepared to pay their legal bills as well.
thank u for an almost pornographic expanded explanation of what was already explained to me.
here is the thing. captcha by itself isnt the issue. the issue is how convoluted it becomes. for instance a simple addition “1+2=...” to prove a person is human is enough.
or are we to believe that there are hordes of determined hackers which can now discern mathematical equations so that they might steal graphics or overwhelm the message boards.
i have been involved in the launch/design/management of hundreds of sites and while that nonsense might work with the higher ups who may or may not be computer literate, to a person
the extreme level of captcha chosen by envato is overkill.
and the unworkable captcha blocking ur customer service complaint forms for certain people is unforgivable on any level.
what is going on here is as clear as can be. somebody signed off on an overdone version of captcha and wont reverse the decision.
im not trying to be rude here but your “explanation” is am expanded version of what i got when i first complained.
its utter nonsense.
with all due respect.
i join, opine, and spend on many many sites and i promise you this is the only one that puts me through this nonsense.
amazon, apple, pond5 digitaljuice, MY BANK dont do this.
the captcha u use is stupid and counterproductive and the gotcha captcha which doesnt work at alll for some people on your customer service form is approaching criminal.
find a smarter way.
Should lock this and all the threads about giraffes and moderate any new threads about giraffes until we hear more about the giraffes. If you know what I mean!
and if a person doesnt know what u mean he is made to feel like an idiot. yall should go check modelmayhem which has a similar unpaid mod businessmodel and see what happens when the mods themselves get sued. im just saying.
what exactly is giraffing and exactly why should a flaw be kept from new buyers? i WISH somebody had told me that i would be frustrated and harrassed by the captcha on the envato sites before i wasted my time and money here.
if something is broken and “is being fixed” unaware new people SHOULD know about it before getting into my situation.
if i read ur post correctly, its “dont tell the new customers the soup is poisoned as we remove the poison from the soup.”
if such a thing is against the forum rules than the rules need to change or the forum is NOT about free speech at all. it becomes an avenue to manage damage from bad programming.
are u aware for instance that it is nearly impossible for some people to complain in the customer complaint forums? so “dont talk about it in public” but if u try to complain, chances are that u are never going to be able to enter the fields to the satisfaction of the form from which u are supposed to complain.
if this is true, then envato has really REALLY lost its way.
in the meantime, i seriously care for the authors here and many of them will attest that i am a good customer. and i will contiunue to speak the truth until the air runs from my lungs,. whether the thing i am complaining about is “being fixed” or not. and whether my complaints appear on these forums or not.
and here we have it. Its the captcha. i suspect its a way of preventing complaints from getting higher by discouraging people to post.
my original issue with envato was that i realized that there was NO WAY to get to customer support for me. after my first complaint it simply became impossible to complain.
since then i have been complaining on these forums (until they kick me off) and stopped spending money here as much as i can. i was forced to find a dozen other sites from where i buy most of my prefab stuff.
i also wanted to open my own back catalogue of graphic materiels for sale (my company has years worth of custom graphics which we were going to retrofit for general sale)
but envato does not give a damn. whoever runs the web has committed to captcha and similar annoyances (uploading is a problem i hear) and thats that.
in the meantime, be as loud as you can and look for the various websites now being developed by other community members seriously angry at what goes on here.
good luck to you, LOL , the most i ever got to my complaint was “we will bring it up in a meeting next month” LOL meanwhile they have now lost thousands from me. i feel bad for the authors who have suffered from my diversion to other sites, but its for them that i will stay here like a stubbed toe, raising awareness as to why certain customers are no longer buying.
i will not stop until captcha is utterly removed from this site. til the end of time.
i have been complaining about captcha for a while now and keep hearing the same (wrong) answers: its to prevent spam (it doesnt), it helps save books! (huh?) its not that hard (it is) etc
the bottom line is that envato does not care. whoever runs the tech is the tail wagging the dog. they have committed to captcha and thats that.
and i have committed to being a screaming nightmare until its removed entirely. and thats that.
im setting up a community website to formally begin fighting this attitude at envato. i have spent far too much money and like the authors far too much to shut up about this.
I have an idea.
I will build a community website were we can get together and fight this problem. The idea is in my head only at this time and to make it happen it will take some time, commitment and $$$. I’m willing to invest all three things if I can get support from at least 10 envato authors.
By support I mean, when I launch the community you will invest your time and afford to fight the problem.
At a moment ONE qualification needed. You must have at least Black Paw.
If anyone is interested contact me via my profile. If I get 10 qualified authors I will put my idea in writing and send it to all. If you don’t like my idea you walk away no hard feelings.
add my plea to kill captcha and i will happily participate. the upload issue is emblematic of a bigger problem in which envato’s tech department’s tail wags the dog. this is a serious offer. i am about to do a stand alone website about this issue anyway with options for other complaints.
