Hi guys, I’m a Front End Developer looking for a partnership with a designer who would be willing to design PSD’s and I will code these.

If anybody is interested at all please do get in touch via my profile page.

Thanks,

Luke

And when they say it does not provide the necessary design quality is a bit of a joke.

It’s not a joke, your design is nowhere near the required standard, period.

The text under each slide title is barely legible, the spacing throughout is way off, the load time is ridiculous and the code could be improved, combine and minify CSS & JS, only load scripts when required rather than throughout…
Please can you expain your spacing issue more throughly? I do not see where there are any spacing issues.

If you cannot see where the spacing looks wrong then you have more issues than I thought.

We give critique and suggestions, but we’re not here to do it for you.

Well if you’re not willing to help authors, out don’t bother posting on the forums my friend. Everybody see’s thing with a different perspective.

I have made a lot of changes and rejected again, not even a soft reject a full on hard one.

Here is the new link to my theme – http://lukespoor.me/SweetHeat

Comment from the reviewer:

Your item does not provide the necessary design quality for this category. As higher quality items become available in the marketplace, approval requirements will increase to maintain appropriate marketplace quality.

While I’d be able to provide feedback as to how to get this approved, I can only do after it has crossed a certain threshold, quality wise. I’m sorry to say this isn’t there yet.

This is getting ridiculous now. They are hand picking items which should be accepted and not. I have put in unique items which make the theme stand out. And when they say it does not provide the necessary design quality is a bit of a joke.

What else can I do? I’ve wasted a good months work which is going to go no where.

Thanks Envato.

Your theme may just pass as a free theme but can’t be called premium as there are a lot of issues including:

- typography – it’s poor, fonts all over the place, no consistent styling

- design – it’s like most other themes, there is nothing unique to make it stand out, the footer lets the site down the most

- features – again it has a lack of features e.g. parallax, jquery animations etc

- issues – there are a lot of issues e,g, rollovers on team photos have no icons, paragraph color (grey) isn’t dark enough, it makes it difficult to read on the white.

It needs a lot of work imho, it probably needs 6-10 hours serious work on it to even see it get close to being a premium theme.
Thank you for your reply, I will take them into account. I appreciate your help :) I don’t understand you with your opinion on the typography though, how it is all over the place? I have used one font for the theme (Raleway).
It’s the spacing and line-heights, typography is about more than just the font :)

I understand, do you have any suggestions as to what I could do with the design? What I could add or change to make it stand out more?

This looks like a really great start but perhaps you can think about:

Make it less generic. The theme doesn’t particularly bring anything new or improved to the market.

I really like the typography and chosen fonts I just think that the spacing is a bit awkward for the different sections. For example, the home hero area at the top has a big padding above the text but not so much below it: http://d.pr/i/d02S

Another example, the very large icons in the generic text section above the teeny images in the portfolio section. The size ratio doesn’t make much sense: http://d.pr/i/99B6

Speaking of the portfolio feature, the images also seem quite small on the actual portfolio page too even without ginormous icons to compare them to: http://goo.gl/w5tgK8

If you’re going for minimalism, you’ve gotta do it really REALLY well. Not to say that this is bad, it’s just that in order to pull off a theme with few “bells and whistles” like this, it has to have absolutely perfect typography, spacing, etc.

Other things:

—The gallery arrows are too big in relation to the other elements on the page: http://d.pr/i/zAsi

—You should really think about what other value (features) you’d like to add to the theme.

Don’t get disheartened. Keep at it! Rejections can only make us stronger designers and developers.

Thank you for your input :)

Just had my second theme rejected which the usual rubbish;

‘Unfortunately your submission SweetHeat – Responsive Agency Theme isn’t ready for ThemeForest and cannot be resubmitted as it did not meet our minimum requirements for quality and/or Envato Market policies. In order for submissions to be considered for sale they must be of high aesthetic and technical quality, unique to our library and cannot be in violation of Envato’s policies. Please see our Knowledgebase for more information: http://support.envato.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/399/57/'

Now I think everyone will agree with me here this is very frustrating especially when reviewers will not give us a reasonable explanation as to why the theme isn’t acceptable.

We all spend countless hours designing these and to have them sit at their computer desk, copy and paste the above and click reject can be very annoying.

I have no idea where to go with my theme now and what to do with it, I would like it to still be published on ThemeForest but no idea how to ‘improve’ it to a high enough ‘quality’. If any of you have any suggestions I would very much like to hear them.

The link to my theme is, http://htmlthemesforyou.com/Sweetheat/

Thank you for your time :)
