I’m fine with all the badges, but GIVE THE SALES BADGES THEIR COLOR BACK!

The idea behind this is to make it frendlier for color blind people. Which is valid point, unless you change that into numbers that are so small you hardly see (refferals, bought items).

Badges are one area, where people at Envato can not really tell whether the change has had any effect on the market itself through stats and data they collect, unlike homepage redesign for example. Its more like a subjective though of (firstly) everyone at Envato, then secondly from the community and survey. I saw blog posts regarding new badges and I only see Macbook Pro’s on the pictures http://tinyurl.com/n5qyckj most are probbably retinas. So I understand the urge of redesigning the badges comming from the staff, as those on higher pixel density screens saw those badges blurred.

But then again, I went through the list why old badges are outdated (raster, inconsistent, color reliance, which are main reasons for the change) and I don’t feel enough was done in this area. Firstly, I find them A LOT more inconsistent than the old badges and secondly, even though they are SVGs, they are even harder to understand than the old ones. I agree, that for color blind people colors mean nothing, just like raster images mean nothing for those on retinas, but all in all, there’s no improvement over the old badges and I believe if you want to upgrade them, you will need to work on it a lot more than 2 weeks before the birthday to catch the deadline. We’re now not dependent on colors, but that’s not helping when we hardly see tiny numbers in badges.

I am open to the change, but I don’t feel it has been done in the right way. The elite badges really stand out in the past, now they are hardly recognisable. I get a feeling that no one from staff saw the problem of badges being cartoonish before they were implemented (no real testing – done in a hurry), and even worse – feel like outsorced from somewhere else, they just don’t look like a part of Envato.

Hope staff sees this post as I haven’t written this in the survey, and – hope designers don’t take this thread too personally (at least I got that feeling from the responses).

(Open to see in full size) I just had to do it, since there’s no comparison in this thread yet (or I missed it). I also included the badges designova submitted, just to give an impression how flat badges would look like (sorry for quality, needed to expand them a bit to fit “the new standards”.

I have noticed just now, but there actually says “Has colleced xy items on Envato Market.” like we’re actually playing with imaginary money… again goes funky.

I am sure that new badges look better (at least pixel perfect) on your retina screen, but how many people are using screens with higher pixel density? I say lets reverse back to old badges and make retina adaptation. Again, the main problem is not “I’m attached to old design” but “new design is way less clear and not appropriate for a company like Envato”

It looks like this theory is true. “No matter what happens users will choose first one. No matter what cool update it was… that doesn’t matter. Users always choose first one.”

When the current design was made, it was made to be coherent. This was broken now in some sections and not only does it look different, but also less clear and gives “funky” impression to forum visitors. I even doublechecked the URL to make sure I’m on the right themeforest.

Good. Although the previous badges are still league of its own. Don’t fix if it ain’t broken and serves it’s purpose.

Forum posts look like a mess now, badges are way too big. And I believe users will need too much time to adapt, I used to immediately notice new badges (like football, also elite badge), now I just skip the area.

Would this not force a lot of falsification of ratings? Rating for a badge, and not necessarily reflecting on truly how they felt about the downloaded item.

This. I don’t think this is the right way to stimulate buyers to rate items.
