Hello everyone!

I’m Ardalan, founder of Marketopia. I have lots of projects going on right now and unfortunately, since Marketopia is a nonprofit service, I’m not able to improve it much at the moment. If someone (preferably an Elite author) is interested in buying and taking over this website, please contact me by email: contact {at} marketopia.net

If I don’t receive a good offer, I’ll continue updating Marketopia, but I’m not sure when I’ll be able to add new features (although I have tons of ideas).

Thank you all for your support so far :) I wish I could do more for the community.

Since yesterday, ‘new-files-from-user’ page in API returns items from ALL marketplaces. Example: http://marketplace.envato.com/api/edge/new-files-from-user:collis,themeforest.json

I sent a message to one of the developers yesterday, but I haven’t received any answer yet, and the bug still exists.

@WebSmacker – A user is clearly asking for a filtering system, and there is an API application that he can use. In one single line, I said while Envato developers are improving the search system, you can use that application. And it was our only forum post in the last 7 days. Is it how you define spamming?

I just don’t get you guys, we need a filtering system, search alone isn’t that helpful, for example if i want to find a theme do you really think that my only parameter will be for example one page?

No… i have to define whole range of things to narrow my options, and since this is nearly impossible, the biggest number of customer in my opinion just goes to most popular or new items, most sales etc. goes trough maybe 5 pages of items and done…

Maybe this is totally off topic but we are screaming for this option for ages now.

While Envato developers are improving the search system, feel free to use the search and filtering system on Marketopia. :)

wait, is there an API here we can tap into? you must have had access to one.

i’m a little confused about your site. Is this a reseller system? i need to learn more about this. if there’ s a full blown api and I write my own queries this is a whole different ballgame. i’d gladly build out a site if I have access to an API. i saw someone mention one at one point but i thought that was one of those ‘coming’ things.

PLEASE tell me this is possible.

Yes, there is a public API, and KingDog posted the link of its documentation.

No, Marketopia is not a reseller system. It provides tools and statistics for ThemeForest and CodeCanyon users.

I have to bring this up. I think this is – besides the technical improvements – the “Visual Refresh” envato tried to do but failed with :)

You should really put your ref link there.

Please tell me, are there any plans to make this for the other marketplaces, too?

I answered your previous post here.

As I said, we’d love to do this for other marketplaces too, but the resources we have are limited right now. We ARE planning to increase our resources, that could help us make our services available to more marketplaces.

And just so you know, there’s going to be a “visual refresh” on Marketopia too! You’ll see it in the release version soon.

Guys! Give them a break! Envato developers are working hard to make it a better website, and that’s one of the reasons why these marketplaces have been so successful. In a huge application with tons of visitors like this, it’s very difficult to apply major changes. I’m sure they’re doing their best.

If you use CodeCanyon or ThemeForest, you can consider using the advanced search and filtering system on Marketopia.net :)

You guys just managed what envato failed to do for years. How long did it take you?

Please do this for videohive too.

But your statistics page looks pretty made up to me. Total amount of dollars spent is just increasing every second by 1. Also, the dollars spent for last month overall value doesn’t match with the chart. (6mio vs 11 mio)

Why don’t you put your referral links in? You can make a lot of money with that and your effort should really be revenued

Building the whole application took us about 6 months, but since when we launched it (1.5 months ago) we’re monitoring it and making improvements all the time. Even though we don’t even have 1% of the visitors Envato marketplaces have, it’s a very difficult task.

We’d love to do this for other marketplaces too, but the resources we have are limited right now.

The statistics are all calculated using the data you see in items detail page. Are those numbers made up? :) The amount that’s increasing is just trying to show the rate of sales in the market. It’s calculated using this simple formula (which is client-side, so you can see it in the javascript):

Current total sales amount = Last total sales amount calculated + ( Time past last calculation[sec] * Average sales amount last month[per sec] )

It’s counting all the extended licenses sold as regular licenses (because there’s no data for extended licenses sold), so it’s lower than the actual number. But it has the needed accuracy. About the fact that those two numbers don’t match…you’re right. And it’s being investigated. We are working hard on the release version in which data accuracy will be better.

We can put referral links, however, with the current affiliate system, and considering the fact that most of our visitors are already Envato users, it has no benefit for us.

Another problem, that is apparently not going to be fixed by the upgrades, is sorting by sales. I don’t know if you realize this, but sorting by sales is virtually pointless. Here’s why. If I search on themeforest for a WordPress theme, and I sort by sales, I’m going to find that the results don’t show me what I need. It shows me the overall sales. Well that’s not relevant. Most times you’ll end up getting results from themes that were built YEARS ago. Because they’ve accrued a higher number of sales than anything new. But what if I’m looking for something that’s really hot right now. I want to search and sort by the sales, but I don’t care about results from projects that are over a year old, because they are much less likely to have the updates of the newer technology. This is critical in this day because with HTML5 things are very different. Qualifiers should be much broader and I for one really need to be able to chain variables. I want to sort by sales in the last 6 months. Or maybe I want to sort by sales in the last 6 months, but only projects that have woocommerce. That’s not possible. And I don’t see any of that changing with these features. The sales and ratings sorting are pretty much useless because they cannot be qualified. Sort by ratings and you end up with pages of results from files that are year’s old, sales, same result.

If you use CodeCanyon or ThemeForest, you can consider using the advanced search and filtering system on Marketopia.net :)
