Please accept my apologies for the delay in getting support from our team on Envato Studio. Unfortunately, we don’t currently offer 24hr or weekend support. Also, this past weekend was a long weekend in Australia, adding to the delays. We do normally respond within 1 day, Monday-Friday, depending on workload.

I will happily answer your question now though:

The client want something that is not included in the express job. I tell him that I can do it with additional charge ( doing a custom job). But when I create the custom job, I have to add the express job price + the additional charge or only the additional charge?

A custom job is considered an additional job to the one you are already working on. For example, if a buyer has purchased a job for $50, but on the job timeline you both realise the work required is beyond what was paid for, a custom job should be agreed upon and paid for. This custom job price is for the additional work only, as the buyer has already paid for the initial service.

When a custom job is paid for, this will create a new job timeline, but link back to the original job still. And when you close both jobs, you will actually receive the payments as two separate items on your pending payments screen. (I realise this is clunky and confusing, but we are looking at improvements)

Extras on Envato Studio are currently being trialled with a number of select providers to see how providers use them and also how customers react to them. We will be monitoring this for a little while before making a decision on the next step.

My point is as you are paying a professional people will expect you to deal with any problems that may come up.
Not for a fixed price though, if you take a car to a mechanic for an oil change and then ask them to fix your exhaust, you’ll be charged accordingly. Sadly the Envato Express Install service does not have an option to cater for this (unforseen issues).

Just chiming in as I wanted to comment on this real quick. If a buyer comes to you with what is not a fresh installation request, we would suggest you request to cancel the job and explain the scope of the Express WordPress Installation service. While this is all explained at the point of purchase, we are always looking for ways to make this more clear to buyers.

Alternatively, should you wish, you can propose a custom job from within this express job that would allow you to set additional pricing, turnaround and revision limits for the work being requested. Additionally, if you have service listings on Envato Studio, you could point them there also.

Any plans to offer a paid referral program for authors who don’t want to participate in Studio Express themselves? If there’s no paid referral then I’d rather direct my customers elsewhere to have their themes installed/customized. Someplace that gave me a cut for giving them business.

We select Express Service providers from our existing horde of handpicked service providers with applicable experience.

To become an Express Service provider, you must:

  • Be an existing Envato Studio service provider
  • Have an available service in the relevant category (e.g. Providers who offer Express WordPress Installation must have an active WordPress service)
  • Have a good track record working with Envato Studio buyers

So, if we are still not Envato Studio provider, and if we want to provide Express Service now, after register to Studio, how long will we be approved for it? I believe that “Have a good track record working with Envato Studio buyers” will take time…

While true, we are happy to consider those with proven track records elsewhere, like on Envato Market, for example. :)
