+1 Yes, simple app with sales notification. Envato guys what do you think about it?
EDIT: Ok, I’ll post this again as I can see that all my juicy information I just spent 30 mins writing will be missed! ....
Ok guys, me again with another possible insight into why we’re seeing sales drop since November 15th.
Firstly, bear in mind I keep a very close eye on these things (as selling online is my job) and I sell across many sites. The drop in sales you’re seeing isn’t just on AJ, but everywhere. Of course, your mileage may vary, but it’s something that’s been reported quite widely, and not just here.
It looks like around the 14th November, Google possibly rolled out yet another update in their newest search algorithm, Hummingbird. Naturally, Google tend to keep quiet about these things, but it was picked up via the MozCast weather reports, which monitor turbulence in the Google search algorithms (seen in the pic below) and reported here on the SEOroundtable forum: http://www.seroundtable.com/google-update-nov15-17689.html
Now, I know most authors here are very quick to exclusively blame Envato’s new search rollout, which is fair enough, especially if one doesn’t look outside the Envato ecosystem for clues, but I do think we’re experiencing both changes coinciding ie. Envato search engine changes AND Google search changes.
Therefore, the drop in sales here on AJ is most likely a result of decreased external searches for royalty-free products reaching the Envato marketplaces in the first place combined with the algorithmic changes Envato are making.
As GroovingGeko suggests however, there will always be a sense of ‘randomness’ and it’s fair to say that the fully ingrained top-authors probably won’t feel the bite of these changes as much, as their products are already very well established within this ecosystem.Having no real control over the situation is pretty frustrating, I agree, but as I’ve said before, I do think we should hold on to our hats and ride out the storm until things normalise. This is The Internet remember. I’m almost certain Envato are very aware of these external changes and I do think that their own changes have taken these into consideration.
Thanks for figuring this , Matt..
Then why don’t we start a community project? Surely there are people here that can design the app and people that can code the app. I am not one of them but what I do have is money to contribute towards the developer costs of making an iphone app. So lets start a community project and make one…Yes, no?
++ Thats will be nice guys!
congrats Luca with this quick rise!
