Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that we take any claims of drop in sales quite seriously. Not only do we measure overall sales performance, but we also review the sales history of any authors who make these claims in the forums. This is crucial to us as it is to you! Please make sure you are actually experiencing a legitimate drop in sales that is not within the normal ranges (we have even noticed some spikes in sales after this change for some of you) so that we can be sure we are focusing on real issues when we address your claims. Thanks!
Hey Everyone, Thanks for your feedback! As Jordan mentioned this is just a start, we know its not perfect but it’s a step in the right direction. We have taken all of your feedback into consideration and are looking forward to making further improvements to this page in future.
As many of you have suggested, scrolling to the bottom of the page in order to purchase is not a good experience and we are looking into improving that at the moment. We aim to have an updated version later this week -we will update you as soon as that is ready.
Hi Everyone, We are listening to all your feedback and also looking out ways to iterate on the design. As with each and every change we make to our product, we are closely monitoring sales data and other key metrics (including category views). We’ll never maintain a change that does not have an overall positive impact on sales and if we need to make changes to the current design for this reason, we’ll let you know. Thanks, Michelle
Thanks everyone for your feedback. We tested these changes with all 7 buyers before release, along with other prototypes. The version you see now proved to be more intuitive during the user testing sessions. We found that it helped buyers discover the facets and find what they were looking for more easily than the previous design and the other prototypes. We also know there are further improvements we can make and we’ll keep iterating and improving. Getting these changes out now will help us do that in a more informed way. Rest assured that, as usual, we are also measuring the effectiveness of the changes in terms of facets usage as well as key metrics like sales. We are also working on how to improve tags, cleansing out spelling mistakes and making tags more relevant and useful. So thanks again for your feedback! And a reminder to please keep any comments on this thread relevant to the topic.
Hi, if someone selects a category (e.g. Wordpress) and then selects more than one tag (e.g. Responsive and Simple), clicking on page 2 etc of the results causes a Page Not Found error. Hope this is resolved soon. Thanks!
Thanks for picking this up, we are working on fixing it.
We recently invited seven Melbourne-based users to our headquarters, and watched them as they tried to find items on Envato Market. These sessions were extremely valuable for us, giving us the chance to note down all the rough edges of the search experience. Some were things we’re already aware of, but we also gained some new interesting insights, especially about search filters.
We’ve put everything in a big TODO list and today we’re releasing the first update to the filters and facets presentation, aiming to smooth out the experience of refining your results. We will be switching this on today for 50% of users and ramping up to 100% over the next day.
Take a look at them in action: http://themeforest.net/search
Check out our blog post for some more info on the work involved and some other related things we’ve been doing.
Thanks everyone for the feedback, some good ideas here!
Just to reiterate what Jordan has said, this is a step in the responsive journey. We know it’s not a perfect solution but it is a step in the right direction. The Item Page is obviously a very important page and not something that we can just change overnight, but we are considering all options for how to continually improve the item page and the overall experience of Envato Market for both buyers and authors.
We encourage you to continue to leave your constructive comments and questions and will endeavour to answer them. We are about to have our weekend so we won’t be able to get back to you until early next week.
I am viewing on mobile, it looks and seems to work much better now! But I couldn’t find the forum section easily. How do I navigate to the forum section immediately from the responsive layout on mobile?
p.s. I can imagine there will be a responsive forum section later on, though.Cheers
Thanks for letting us know – this was an oversight – we are looking into it and will update you when we have a fix for this. We’re working through the site piece by piece starting with the key pages and we’ll consider the forums when these are done.
Any chance to start seeing this kind of options on author portfolio page(s)? Any update on this?
Hi Urbazon, as part of the new search filters & facets side panel piece of work we actually rebuilt the search pages so that it was more flexible and robust and would allow the faster delivery of new features. In order to put these on the portfolio page a little bit of work in migrating and redesigning that page to work with our current search pages design is required. We’ve started this work but are a little way from completing it. We also have a lot more we want to do on the main search and browse results pages to add more useful facets, make them easier to see and use. In short, it’s something we are looking into and know would be valuable, but can’t confirm when or if it will be delivered just yet.
