Thanks guys and girls, really appreciate the kind words!
I hate frameworks.. I code everything up from scratch.. It takes me less time..
+1 I find ‘rolling’ my own CSS a lot quicker than a framework. Less bloat, and as I wrote the class names / ids, I think it easier to debug.
Frameworks are a great starting tool though.
Well done Mike! I’ve been on TF 6 months, & GR a while before that, I’m about to take the jump into full-time on here now, any advice from a year long veteran?
My advice would be to always go with your gut, make the best products you can, and listen to the buyers. If it wasn’t for the buyers asking / suggesting things to add / change in my themes, I don’t think I would have made it this far!
Also remember the community, its packed full of super helpful people!
I have officially been on ThemeForest for one year! My first theme Notes got accepted a year today!
I did intended on writing something a bit more in depth (More like a review) later on, but I just wanted to say thank you to every single person who has bought, commented, or shown off one of my themes.
I never intended to get that involved in creating themes, I started doing them as something to keep me busy whilst waiting for freelance work. A year later and I am working on them full time.
I just wanted to say a big thank you to ThemeForest and the other Evanto communities, as you are blooming awesome.
I live in England where things are pretty expensive, my rent is about $2418.30 a month. I live with my girlfriend, yeah we follow the 30% rules, just saving to buy a house in the next 6 months.
+1. We rent a 3 bedroom house that is around £650 / $995 (aud) a month, before a single bill is paid. It is great at the moment, but we shall be moving to our own (smaller) place hopefully next year. Just have to wait to have two years accounts.
Have any authors set up a Shopify Theme demo? I am not 100% sure what to do.
Do I host the demo on a ‘fake’ online store (Which I pay for) or follow Shopify’s guide to setting up a store as an affiliate (Which is free)?
I will be selling the theme only on Themeforest, so I am not too sure if I should be using the Shopify Affliate program.
P.S. Emailed support as well to see if they can help, will post any responses here for other Authors.
Its a tough one, as I don’t want to bloat the HTML with comments. I quickly looked at the source code for 5 successful items on TF.
It seems that the common practice is to comment the code. Some just comment ‘sections’ of the HTML whilst others comments every element.
Maybe just commenting where sections start / end, and using sensible class names for elements inside these may be the happy medium.
