) No sales, I understand…. no sales no income…. :)
However Wordpress was getting updated from 3.8 to 4.0 (in few days maybe….) in few months and recent themes should at least as you stated work smoothly with the last WP release!
Just a question of ethics…..

And a theme with less than 6 months old and with sales and well rated… not getting updates something wrong in my opinion…. Do not you agree? I respect your opinion.
Envato business model is good enough both for authors and clients. There are other business models out there…
I totally agree with you when you said: “you just need to make good quality themes and have a proper support setup in place, it’s possible to tick all these boxes as long as you have the right work ethic and perhaps a support team behind you”... Couldn’t be more agreed with you!
I noticed some authors (very few) are putting in the marketplace one new theme per month… Is it sustainable or even suitable?
If there is no lack of support that’s ok. If there is really a new theme that’s ok. If there is innovation that’s ok too. But if that means a lack of support or if there are just a “better version” from the previous one….. Is it suitable or / and sustainable? Isn’t it better getting the previous one better and better with updates and new features?

Hello! I was wondering which is worst for a client: having a lack of support or having no support at all? One business week to answer one support ticket and there is no answer… And the support ticket was well documented. Could one imagine if it was not well documented? I thought the mission of any company is delivering a good experience for the users, provide good support and when a problem happens also be there to give solutions… But maybe I am wrong. My marketing thoughts about doing business…. Where is the “Plan B”?

Many thanks for your interest in this situation… but you can and you should assume nothing and NO this is not a situation of different licenses or prepaid deposit .v. buy now options!!! This is a situation of everything (all items) that were in the most popular plugins front page had a price which price was different when one did the checkout to bought one of them!! Now the prices are the same but at the time I reported the situation this is not the case! Regards – nuno
