That’s straight up 1998.
Definitely needs more contrast… white text on a tan background is a nono for readability.
Lots of details seem to be missing.. where’s the rss icons? Where’s the search form? No bullet icons, just a faded twitter bird.
Again because there’s no contrast nothing stands out as important. Not even the header. And nothing has bullet icons which I think would add a little detail.
And a plain text logo is just being lazy.
Anyway, good luck.
You got a mismatch of colors going on. It’s like night and day from the top to the bottom.
Maybe try this.
- Take out the solid blocks of colors and add some subtle gradients. Like light colors, light grey to white, or super light tan to white. - Take out that image of the city skyline and maybe try a texture? - Make it so when you click on the tabs that the div slides to the top so you can see it… right now you can have multiple tabs open and they open up below the fold. When you open one tab the div should slide up and open, and when you open another the open div should close etc. - Get rid of the black at the bottom… reverse text is hard to read. - Maybe move up the text at the bottom so it’s higher on the page,, and again ditch that skyline image. Maybe add a full width div above the two columns at the bottom, maybe using some larger text. - Ditch that purplish neon text at the bottom,, you won’t be using it if you change the black to something lighter.
Overall it’s missing some details that if added you might get approval.
Anyway, good luck man.
They’d probably approve it if you:
- Created a better logo. Globes and the earth are passe. - Take out the top header diagonal lines and put in a nice smooth gradient or some kind of new texture. - They nav links are kinda too big and bland. - The address in the top right looks like you just slapped it in.
Overall good start but its missing some pizzaz that I think the moderators here are looking for.
Gabsy got it right with her theme… and all the little details really make a theme sell.
Anyway, good luck!
