@djmceltic Get in touch, I’ll try to help you out, no charge, just don’t leave TF Leave a message here after/if you message me so I know to check my email.
@djmceltic: You make a very good point and you haven’t been the only one.
Fellow authors, you need to learn more about Quality Assurance / how to properly test your themes. Think of all the work you could save yourself by not releasing X updates with bugfixes, not to mention happy customers, great reputation and reviews.
Also, some of the newer authors seem to like to sabotage themselves from the beginning by not cross-browser testing even their demo.
Let’s hope the side effect of the rate hike will be that authors will start being more critical about their own work, especially since some buyers have already declared they’ll be making fewer impulse buys.
We’ve had how many WP theme releases today, 10 or more? Probably at least a third/more of them have nothing special and will soon get drowned and lost if people keep releasing at the same rate.
You’re doing other people a disservice by occuping precious advertising space and you’re doing yourself a disservice by wasting 1 month or more on something that will net you very little in the end.
Also, authors who keep trying to release very niche themes, do yourselves a favor and stop releasing them unless you’re comfortable with selling limited quantities (several 100s max) and you’re well aware of this even before starting work on the them.
Buyers leaving messages on the forum looking for incredibly specific themes always manage to get a good chuckle out of me, especially if they complain about how we never have more niche themes.
Dear buyers, please be realistic and consider the fact that we don’t design themes for BMW owners who also have parrots as pets because there are probably only a handfull in the world looking for such a potential theme. Sure, it would be dirt cheap for you to purchase at $45-$50, but it would waste 1-3 months of our time for very little money.
Maybe I’ll try a different type of arrow for the slider, but I don’t understand why indicator bullets are bad just because they’re basic. Might just be your personal preference.
Main font is actually Lucida Sans Unicode, I believe it’s regarded as very web safe; the heading fonts are Google Fonts; will see about spacing, but I’m not sure there’s something wrong with this aspect currently, thanks though!
hmm, whats about this bebas neue: http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/bebas-neue
this font-set is with umlauts – available in different languages..is it able to change the font with this fontset?
You’re right. I’m sorry, I don’t know how I missed that, weird. Here, I converted it for you, it should include the accented characters as well.http://depositfiles.com/files/axqj1v27i
I used this: http://cufon.shoqolate.com/generate/ and ticked the Latin-1 Supplement checkbox; if still no umlauts, re-download the font from FontSquirell, go to the link I pasted and just tick the ‘All’ checkbox to get the complete font cufonized.
The theme uses the Bebas Neue font (http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/bebas-neue ).
If you look at the glyphs / character map, you’ll see that unfortunately the font designer did not create an extensive character set, so no umlauts exist.
If you really need them, you need to search for a different font that has umlauts and cufonize it. If the theme allows you to use Google Fonts, it may be easier to find an appropriate font there.
Thank you. Yep, I agree, it’s pretty basic, but at the same time, I’m not sure I should add a ton of more things to the homepage, everything-but-the-kitchen-sink style.
It’s going to end up like a Christmas tree potentially. I’ll try to reach some balance nevertheless, certainly don’t want to end up like some of those recent themes where design elements are just thrown together to make the page look busy.
I’ve been trying to develop a new theme for a few months now; went through several different concepts (which I ended up trashing).
Here is my latest version: http://osigrandi.com/conquest_wip.jpg
It turns out it’s very difficult to come up with something at least decently different from most current themes and with enough broad appeal. I hope I’m finally on the right track with this version.
I’d really appreciate some comments (obviously it’s a work in progress so just an almost completed homepage template for now). Main slider and footer unfinished.
Also, if there are any reviewers lurking around, please stop by to comment if you think this has no chance of being accepted.
Should save some space at least; too lazy to test, hope it works.
