Hey everyone,

A friend of mine is developing an Xcode app for iPhone and he’s looking for some paid help to get over a few technical hurdles.

I don’t have the necessary hardware to help so I thought I’d put it out there for any takers.

From what I can gather it’s something to do with reading XML files?

If anyone is interested contact me on my profile page and I’ll forward your email on for his consideration.

Thank yous :-)

Haha, figured it out.

Ctrl+A to apply transforms.

Hey everyone,

I’m working on some 3D assets in Blender but I’ve hit a roadblock with a transform problem.

I know how to set an objects pivot to a new position, but how do I “zero” rotation transform? For example, I could make a fan blade that I’d like to duplicate, but the duplicates rotation is adversely affected by the rotation I applied to give the original blade pitch.

I’m used to 3DS where I kinda know my way around. But with a view to keeping things accessible I’d like to be able to keep my assets as Blender files.

Does anyone have any tips?

I’ve got one of those codes for $75 of adwords if anybody wants to buy it? It’s a new customer, self managed one.

It expires in January and given the work I currently have up to my eyeballs I’ll not make good use of it.

I’m not pointing fingers at anyone, but I just want to make it clear – because I read comments a few pages back on this thread + the comments that accompany the CS5 stuff on the iPhone app store:

The Flash iPhone exporter doesn’t make Flash files. It makes iPhone apps from Flash projects. It’s just a converter.

So Steve Jobs isn’t banning Flash technology with his latest maniacal episode – he’s banning people who use tools to output runtime code he doesn’t approve of. The compiled output is the same compiled output you’d get with any toolset. This whole thing is just about control.

He’s an egomaniac.

Hopefully some antitrust cases will clean this up, because it has absolutely nothing to do with technology or consumer interests.

I hope not. I interpret it to mean you can’t use a runtime JIT compiler or compile directly to arm6 assembly without going through an ‘official’ language and Xcode project.

Flash CS5 compiles directly to arm6 assembly, so does, by it’s nature… bypass official iPhone API ’s in a way which something like Unity3D does not. If it were to affect Unity3D I would be surprised, shocked and angry because it would truly mean a tyrannical move from Apple.

I don’t develop for iPhone so I don’t know, but I have developed for enough embedded platforms over the years to guess it’s linked at runtime.

Do we know yet whether Adobe took inspiration from the work they did with LLVM to make their iPhone compiler? In which case wouldn’t they already have gotten away with it?

What the hell happened in the last few days? Jobs has completely lost it, UK parliament sold the internet to the BPI and I’ve hurt my knee running.

Is this the end of the world? I fear it might be…

The sad news is, it’s not about which technology is best.

Apple is a marketing mammoth and they have complete control of the fashion hardware they are shipping to trendy consumers. Jobs is simply monopolising for no other reason than greed, ego and I can so I will.

HTML 5 sucks, and in the desktop space it sucks hard. If any of this tit-for-tat was about the openness of technology Apple mouthpieces like to ramble on about, then why are they making every effort to lock developers on alternative paths out?

I’m out before I get angry…

With any luck they’ll just rebrand what we’re already using.
