Hi. First of all, i’m not a newbie with WPMS, but this is first time i’m trying to do this, so i ask here for some help before going any further. MS is bit tricky while doing this stuff…

Point is, i’ve a site with 2 WP installed, one per language on subfolders. I’ll be moving to a fresh new install with Multisite, but i can’t disable the currents while i’m working on new site. So, as i’ve another (unused) domain pointing to the same machine, i’ve installed the WPMS on a subfolder on root (/2014) as a destination for that domain, with subdomain network configuration.

My question is: Once i’ve finished the new site, can i point the main domain to that folder, changing later the domain string on SQL?

Looks like the kind of things that turns into a nightmare (coffee, midnight red eyes, cigarretes even when i don’t smoke…) once i’ll try it out. :(

Any helps and tips will be appreciatted!

Could I still show my client the progress of the site via a url or anything? or would they have to be in front of my computer?

Make another user for them. Logged users see real site. I’ve used Underconstruction plugin many times, it’s pretty useful and flexible.

EDIT: what i meant is, keep their current site on server, point to it on the plugin config settings.

Populars featuring strategy returns more money for Envato. That’s all and it happens on any ecommerce business. Legit enough. Move on.
It will not help in the long run. If the initial exposure time – popularity benefits – searchability aren’t balanced, we can’t expect consistency of profit – including Envato. About time :D

Maybe the question here is “Who is we?”
Also, i think Envato is already in the long run, considering the last 6 years with the same strategy.

@DS, i’m not saying the point of view you are displaying is wrong, i think is great and i appreciate your brain-contribution (i’ve always loved your perspective, except if we talk about pyramids :) but i’m sure Envato won’t make big changes regarding this, except cosmetic things here and there. It’s obvious that some buttons on homepage have odd and unexpected behaviours, but that won’t change the fact that the whole marketplace is focused on promote the same big-seller files, to make them bigger. That’s the only way to make pointless the huge and disproportionate number of files accepted everyday. Hope this makes clear my opinion.

This discussion comes from Flashden times…
I don’t think things will change, no matter the ideas that could merge up on forum.

@Pezflash I love Zaragoza and having come from London I am really looking forward to living in a quieter city. Major bonus though… driving distance to snowboard territory!!!! For once in my life I will actually be looking forward to winter. :)

I took this image in Formigal 5 days ago, is a great Sky Station, around one hour and a half from your future home. It was plenty of snow, 15ºC on tracks all weekend. :) You will love Pirineos, have like 5 or 6 Sky places within 2 hours drive. Also great National Parks like Ordesa. You will definitively love the place!

Hi mate. I’m sure you will enjoy the move, Spain is quite a charming country, much more if you move to small cities like Zaragoza. Is a nice place, also close to Barcelona and Madrid (3h. drive from both) and quite well communicated with high-speed trains (bit more of an hour to both places!!).

I’m in Madrid, and i’ll be more than happy to share a beer if you come here, i’ll try to be a good guide. Also you are coming on a great moment of the year, spring is wonderful in Spain, good weather on not crowded places.

Let me know if you need some info about anything related with the country. You can write me directly, have the email on my profile page. ;)

Use javascript (document.URL.indexOf) for domain blocking. Use it on several JS across your site structure, then obfuscate to make harder the “clean up” process by rippers. You can also encrypt the values of the allowed domains for a complex solution.

If you include local path as allowed, you will go fun answering supports questions as “my site works on local, but does not when uploaded to my server” (along with the non-purchased badge). Open a beer each time you get this kind of message. :P
