Dear Envato Support,
we can’t explain how happy we are when you refered our buyer to Microlancer instead of us, theme’s author… We know that you need to make money, but this is really a bad practice.
So in short here is the situation. A client bought our latest WP theme. He didn’t know how to install it and contacted directly Envato Support. They refered him to Microlancer and found someone who charged him $50 for installation (you all know how this works on Microlancer), instead of pointing him to us. If you didn’t know if we provide support or not you should at least check it first. The only fault of the buyer is that he didn’t even open documentation to see a guide how to install a theme, but that’s not the point here…
After that client got furious, left us a 1 star rating accusing us of charging him $50, because he obviously don’t understand that we are a team on themeforest, not Envato. So basically he didn’t rate us, but you – Envato support. Here’s a screenshot:
We already contacted support and guess what? We got generic response that this is valuable feedback!! Valuable to who?? We are not the ones who deserved 1 star rating and that rating should be removed! Because you refered that user to Microlancer instead of telling him to contact the author first!
Very nice feature and as doru said, function over form, finally!
Looking forward to the next stage, the real stage of AUTHOR teams, and that is collaborative items, split earnings etc. While having a support team is great, having a safe and trusting system in place for authors teaming up/splitting earnings is even more awesome
+ 1. But this is also a huge improvement
Congrats guys, share some TimTam’s
As I can see that PSD you are talking about has custom made icons and really unique layout – purpose also, somethng that hasn’t been seen so far. I think it deserves this price, but it’s true that there are a lot of other items that deserves it too.
pixel-industry saidEnvato will not give you money. They will made campaign automaticaly for item that you choose (they create ads image, configure anything, etc). You will not have any access to statistic for this campaign and can’t see how it goes and who bought your items from campaign.
I doubt that Envato is advertising those items. I mean it wouldn’t be fair to other authors… I think they advertise by themselves.. Btw, we also noticed big sales drop for the last two days.. I think that maybe people are going on vocations.. It’s the end of July.. Edit: But you get amount for marketing… Doesn’t it mean than that you must make a campaign by yourself. or Envato does that job too?
Thanks for the info, didin’t know how this work… On one hand it’s great that they are preparing campaign as they have much more experience, but on the other hand as we can’t see the background of it, it’s not so cool at all. We won’t learn anything…

Header is nice. It is simple but professional. Slider is also OK, but you could work on it a bit more . Other parts are pretty boring and generic… Put some more effort in it and add more or different content. I belive it’s near to get approved, but you will need to work a bit more on it..
I don’t belive that anything is going to change here. It might be rude to say, but I think that Envato couldn’t care less about false ratings, or it’s authors… It’s sad but true. We had a bad rating where client wanted major customization, we said we do not offer customizations for free and BAM, 1 star rating. Contacted Envato support about it, got generic response that a user has right to it’s own opinion and that’s it. Now we have a situation, “thanks to that microlancer banners” that a client didn’t know how to install WP, paid someone else $50 for it and then put 1 star rating on our newest WP theme accusing us that we charged him for it…
Bottom line, this whole marketplace should be developed from scratch, starting from better support policies, meaningful review system where author can respond to it’s client, system that is transparent (ratings should be public), that “cart” functionality which should be developed years ago and so on…
Until that time (maybe in 5 years or so) we can only complain to ourselves.
Well I think it is the normal price. This is One page HTML, doesn’t have blog signle layout which is normal for one page templates to have, so I think this is a fair price..
