There’s no point in arguing with you as clearly you don’t understand simple sentences… Leaving this thread as this guy will continue writing silly arguments and nothing will change anyway.
I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be rude… But you don’t know how to read or something? How can a theme that is containing 20+ different themes be priced the same as normal theme with one specific layout? In which world is this normal???
Leokoo saidWhat’s the point of a marketplace then?
mountainthemes saidHmm, are you going to blame TF for bad sales? Rather, shouldn’t you be looking at ways to improve your product so that sales will come to you?
11 Pages an no Envato response. Themeforest is gonna lose another Elite Author.
Have you ever sold on a market before? Try it once and bring mediocre products You do sound like sour grapesIf X theme has 1000+ man hour invested, plus really good programmers/designers, you either need to do the same or better in order to get sales. Not churn out mediocre themes and then blame the market for your sales
You are missing the point in this forum discussion. Authors who used to sell more with their “mediocre” themes now do not get as many sales. Good or bad, the sales declined, that’s the problem here and that’s people are discussing.
And you thinking that X theme is one of the best because of the crafting it’s quite amusing. The themes that are on top now are there more because of proper timing + having already the sales drag and less because of proper design/coding execution. There are better authors here that develop better themes. Just because they don’t make them big and stuffed like X or Avada, it doesn’t mean they are mediocre. Go educate yourself a bit on those “1000+ man hour invested” themes and read this. Pathetic.L.E. just so we are even with smileys. They do give this over the top, intelligent attitude. I like them.
“Envato theme authors are making large sums of cash by selling themes that are packaged as complete solutions for online businesses, because that’s what consumers have been trained to expect – the bigger the package, the more appealing the product. This can cause serious problems with data portability for customers down the road and remains a continual source of frustration for consultants who are hired to support poorly built Envato products.”
Love this part!!! That’s actually what we are fighting against!!!!
I never said our sales are low. They are lower that before, but still fine – the question is for how long? We just won’t jump on the wagon because we see that this ship is going down… And we sure won’t spend 6+ months only for development to make a bloated theme. When we started, this was our main job. In last few months this became our side job. And when you see how things work in real word, with real clients, when you see their actual needs, then you start to think differently. ;Maybe there are more the ones who need super bloated theme to make something out of it maybe due to lack of experience, but we’ll just keep providing our work to ones that are happy with the design and code quality we offer. That’s the main goal after all, we’ll rather have returning customers than one-time buyers who are extremely happy to see bloated theme. We don’t need bloated theme to get recognized. So that’s it from us. Have a great weekend everybody
This is not a theme club like Elegant themes is, this is a marketplace, where you can’t get 20+ sites for one price and lifetime updates. At least it hasn’t been until now. The purpose of themeforest was to offer wide range of high quality and unique items, which is not the case for many theme clubs.
You say that we all should make a major theme like Divi bla bla. Don’t you get that this is exactly what we don’t want to do. Those types of themes aren’t themes anymore. Those are whole frameworks and the purpose of a theme is just that what the word sais – a THEME. You get a structure and a visual feeling that you need to customize for your own needs. And those Divi and others are full and complete product.
Sorry but I don’t want to make “a theme” that has gazillion of options and focus all of my efforts on that one theme and make it bloated with garbage. I wan’t to make new items which are suited for ONE purpose, clean, light weight and truly usable.
Just please tell me why you would buy a theme that has 200+ different layouts and I don’t know how many options when you can make only 1 website with it! Why? Because you won’t buy multiple licences, you’ll just keep using it again and again with one licence. We know this as it is happening all the time. So please just read the worries of the authors here and stop promoting Elegant themes and other similar sites as this is not the point of this conversation!
I've said what I had, nothing will change so all of this is pointless. Cheers and have a great day and weekend!
Just my 2cents!
A da se udružimo, umjesto da si budemo konkurencija ? Pogotovo bi malo volio “proviriti” u vaš page builder … hehe. (šala mala)(back to english) Until Envato changes its policy regarding VAT and prices (if ever), we are going to see falling down of this marketplace. Off course, first will go smaller sellers (like us), latest will go Avada and similar top sellers …
@aligatorstudio Hehe možda bi trebali .
Totally agree with this, but there’s no point in writing posts on this thread as Envato staff doesn’t care. They already stated their opinion months ago and nothing will change..
Why don’t you build something similar to Divi? With a customised page builder with good SEO and ensure it is lightweight? You won’t need to spend much on promoting it, Wordpress blogs will pick it up and help you with that
We have a custom made page builder with endless options in our latest themes. We spend almost a whole year developing it and still are pushing our limits to make it better and better.. It’s clean, drag and drop, easy to use (as comments from the buyers), but that’s just not enough. Some of the items in most popular WP section dodn’t even have a page builder, but hey they got 250+ layouts .
We also pointed that this trend is going to kill the marketplace. We are not freelancers but a company and we can’t afford to work on a bloated theme 6+ months to have decent sales that are now equal to the ones we got with normal theme just a couple of months ago. Some say the niche theme is a way to go. On Themeforest, sadly it’s not… Niche themes, no matter how great they are simply can’t compete with this multi-bloated sh*. So it’s just a matter of time when authors will simply leave this marketplace and search for alternatives, and believe me there are alternatives… It’s just sad that Envato doesn’t care about their authors and community. As long as profit raises, no one cares about small authors with normal themes, whoi raised this marketplace to where it is now. But, when they start to care it will be far too late.
