Hi All,

In the pixelentity team today we are celebrating this:

That’s right, its Blue Steel! Thanks to Envato, to our parents, partners, our friends, to the Gods, to our No. 1 fan Szôke Judit :bigwink: , and last but not least, to all of our buyers. Without you all this wouldn’t have been possible :inlove:

Here’s to continued success on the Envato marketplaces.

Regards,

DOK & BF

We had a customer yesterday asking a few questions about our latest file to find out if it was the right on for him. Almost all of his requested features were not part of the file and we clearly told him so. Later we even talked about customising the theme for him but in the end we didn’t agree on price and he decided to leave it.

Today we get an email saying that he went ahead and bought the theme and likes it but rated it 4 stars because of those missing features!

For me this makes no sense. If a file is bug free, works like it says in the description and has great support, then why a 4 star rating only? Especially when the lack of desired features was known about before they decided to purchase?? Flawed reasoning IMO

If it makes a significant improvement, you should submit this as a patch to WP core.

as i said, there are reason for that – for example, the php file checks

if ( $current_blog->archived == '1' || $current_blog->spam == '1' || $current_blog->deleted == '1' ) {
        status_header( 404 );
        die( '404 — File not found.' );
}

the above wouldn’t be possible without using ms-files.php. However, such feature is not needed when the network is only used for theme preview, hence the quick hack.

I just noticed the following line in the .htaccess of a wp network install

...
# uploaded files
RewriteRule ^files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$1 [L]
...

while i can understand the reasons behind such implementation, the above rule still causes a massive drop in server performances because all uploads are served via php (like timthumb)

a quick fix

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^theme4\.themes\.domain.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^files/(.+) wp-content/blogs.dir/5/files/$1 [L]

RewriteRule ^files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$1 [L]

where theme4.themes.domain.com is a site of the newtwork with siteID = 5 this way, uploads will be again served directly by the webserver.

I guess other theme authors here may use a newtwork installation for their previews so decided to share.

Install WP Super cache, mod_rewrite method as that alone will boost your webserver performances far more than any other optimization.

here some stats from our ded server

before -> 30 requests/sec
now -> 5.500 request/sec

Well there you have it, 2 authors from the list would rather stay as we are now. So that’s the way we’ll stay.

For one, there is no aggressive attitude. Do you see anywhere I am typing in “ALL CAPS ?”

All I’m asking for is data. Is that so much to ask for? Like what’s the landing pages? What’s the Click-Thru-Rates? What keywords are you bidding on? What types of experiments are you running? Other people have asked about the landing pages as well.

Hit me up, I’m not selling anything, I just want to help you guys out with the PPC campaigns and I know I will be able to increase visibility and provide suggestions to help the cause. I do not want to get in on the action, just help you guys with the campaigns.
Landing page address has been already sent to all the partecipants, project page with tech details will be created on our site, any author who joined will be granted read access to Adwords/GA from where they could get all possible info about the campaign.

But asking for that data before, like we need to persuade you to buy our product, tells me you still missing the point of this project.

So you’re GAQI and only want to help us? Then i have nothing against you handling the whole AD campaign yourself as long as

- all involved authors would agree
- you will do it for free.
