I usually open the general category that I need – which is Music or Logos. Then sort by date, scroll through the items and listen to those who managed to get at least 3-4 sales in the first days. That way I make sure I find a fresh music that has potential to be good. Then after listening some 30-40 tracks, I set aside 3-4 tracks and try to import their previews in my project to see how they go with the animation.
i always ignore packs. Sometimes i browse through authors that i fetured before to see if they have released something new that will suit my project.
3Docean has exceptions that doesn’t apply to VideoHive or other marketplaces. For example you could sell a real car 3D model on 3Docean, but you could not use real life car model on video hive. There was a recent policy update please see the article in Knowledgebase: http://support.envato.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/513/0/trademark-use-and-real-world-products

I had a friend who is playing drums and he joined in a well known local band. He asked me to create website for their band. Later when they released their album, they asked me to design their album cover and I got in touch with their record label and designed pretty much everything that an album release involves – CD design, posters, magazine ads, web banners, outdoor ads. They also asked me to make a Tv commercial. I thought I had never done it, but to be honest, this was also my first time to make CD cover, magazine ads, outdoor ads etc. At that time I was working in a radio station and my work was totally unrelated to a design. 7 years later I’m a full time VideoHiver earning a living from video animations.
Also keep in mind that no matter how many of your projects got accepted only the last one appears on the front page. Read more here: http://themeforest.net/forums/thread/new-homepage-new-items-system/49104
Here is my version of color splatter logo in case you find it useful: http://videohive.net/item/premium-logo-pack-6in1/5372206
I’m not here with the official staff reply. Just some personal thoughts after reading this discussion.
@Inlife – Keep in mind that “commercial use” and “commercial distribution” is not the same. However it was mentioned somewhere that CC BY is the only license from CreativeCommons that is suitable for assets.
Also we work by the rule that everything that is not allowed is forbidden. For example – if there is no license – we take it as any use/distribution is forbidden.
As far as i know – textures from lostandtaken.com can’t be resold as it clearly states: Please do not host textures elsewhere or redistribute them in their original format. There is no exception for including as assets within bigger project or something like that. You can always try to get permission from author, but normally we don’t accept them.
@Creattive – if you are using those textures. you should get permission from author or replace them as the liability for incorrectly licensed textures lies on author not Envato, VideoHive or reviewers.
