I see what you’re saying…
I’m not a web designer., but surely there is a usability element to consider, which is why these styles are prevailing?
It’s all good sat there as a designer (me too) saying this could be more creative and exciting to use etc… but what about John Doe who isn’t fluent with the web like you and I?
He needs guiding through the web no? Not to deal with the extreme creative freedom of the designer’s ego?
I agree with what you’re saying, but surely the usability element is the reason for this?
You’ve got a nice site. I think I might choose that theme for my portfolio now I’ve seen it in action!
One thing I would comment on, and this may be a problem on my side, but when I view the preview of the Create theme, it loads fine. When I view it on yours, it loads rather slowly.
Good job though, nice work (Y)
Brochures? Do you mean flyers?
Just had a quick browse at the brochures and to be fair, there are some great layouts!
Brochures aren’t as graphically intense and creative as flyers are, but they take equal skill to design. Getting type layouts to look good on a page, dividing everything up and making it all flow and well laid out – it’s difficult.
I also find it tedious due to the lack of ‘creativity’ that goes into it and hard to keep focused, but like I said, to get a brochure right, it takes skill.
I disagree that it’s a problem on the whole. There’s nothing on here you wouldn’t see on the front cover of a magazine at the eye level of a school kid in a shop.
However, I would agree that it is a problem with people who just put a semi naked girl on the front, and the overall flyer is shite.
The more important problem I’d say is the quality of flyers being allowed to pass, not the content of them.
...After all, aspecially in Britain, the nights these flyers are advertising.. I mean, have you seen what girls wear to go out in? haha
girls get in free
That’s massively popular in busy clubs. I was in London the other month and turned down entry because my friend and I didn’t have girls with us! haha!
It was £15 entry to men who had girls with them, free entry to women and no entry to men on their own!
