jeff, for believers is a place called church (kiddin). on a market things should be always strait and clear, like $ is. i remember that you was active in a topic about magento, from where i quote collis words:

Copyrighted image use is never good, and I’m not sure how we let those slip through. Jason & Jeffrey are going through and disabling items which shouldn’t be there until Magentist can update the images appropriately.

from topic pointed by fresh, another words from a reviewer this time, jremick (not sure if isnt quite one named by collis above):

If your template includes any copyrighted images in the download files or screenshots without appropriate licensing, it will be rejected. Authors are responsible for this so if you update it later with images or the reviewer misses one and someone files a violation of copyright, you’ll be responsible and your account could be frozen, etc.

so, thats why i am confused. here isnt talk about providing the images in purchased package. but from copyright point of view, doesnt matter you are selling it or using it for a sale. is same thing. you talk about movies. remember is illegal even to put a movie in a store on plasma monitors (doesnt matter a lot of stores do). same thing with screenshots.

fresh, i was chating just in old times when mirc was born :)). is enough the price and theme evaluation is on the hand of subjectivity (here i understand, anyone is), thing like mentioned in this topic and similar, should be clear, because the market terms arent enough (http://wiki.envato.com/category/selling/copyright-selling/).

but, very probably, maybe i miss something here. i am glad to be illuminated.

I’ve seen the issue covered a few times officially.

me too, but i am still confused. even official words are that author cannot use images without copyright, the reality and TF stock show that is a half way to measure that.

i was though to upload an item and if is rejected because of images used, just to point to the specific TF templates what use similar images. but, for what? if a reviewer say isnt ok (on rejection reason), the fact that a lot of TF items use not ok pictures, isnt for you.

kind of russian rullete here.

@modernworldweb, those badges are like freckles. you get them from sun or monitor exposure.

lol nothing , im just sad. :)

haha. why? because is like in life? who make a rule is the first one who break it? :))

yes, i am not affected by the situation with items pulled from frontpage, but c`mon, life is too serious then a cheap theme or a market what is acting like a market. just what 600 died in China.

wondering if the J&J are invited to give some beers, will make also a sky cross using answers :)

for me was (and is) funny to see that sport where peoples try to cut the nails with an anvil, and after that they said was back from foundry :P

all new magento items have same problems at copyright. the thing with “is a new guy, he didnt know” remain. hehe. reviewers are more viewers.

at least can be said on magento section authors may use the images from http://demo.magentocommerce.com/

few days ago was a topic about rank competition with TM. now indeed, the front page and that – famous now – section look close to what sell TM.

thats a proper answer. strait, on subject and clear. is not a shame to point a mistake, even own (we all are human, even few are acting like a machine), but to avoid a problem and making the rest of topic readers / authors to look like a bunch of naive children’s, is.

He’s a brand new author on ThemeForest. They just didn’t know.

haha! really. i suppose the author was and reviewer, what can explain how themes pass over those simple terms.

you should think twice when you give answers like that. but hey, what is to think here? :)) when reality talk from itself? i just wanted to see what can be said on a “serious” matter like copyright.
