Anything JetBrains release is a top-notch tool. Resharper is one of my favourite productivity tools (for Visual Studio). I’ve tried phpstorm on PC, but it was slow and ugly… can’t remember the version. Is it any better now?

I have started with version 6.x and currently working with v7.1, both versions are running fast (even with multiple instances) and packed with very use- and helpful features I don’t want to miss anymore.

Next Version of PhpStorm is going to integrate WordPress Support (providing a bunch of WordPress-specific features).

Current WordPress support includes:

  • WordPress integration in PhpStorm for new plugins (with plugin skeleton) and existing projects
  • Development environment configuration for WordPress
  • WordPress code style
  • Hooks support (Including completion for registration functions parameters, navigation from hook registration functions to hook invocation, callbacks from hook registration, and other hooks-related features)
  • Search on WordPress.org right from the editor
  • WordPress command line tool WP-CLI integration

PhpStorm 8 (To be released in Q3 2014). There is an EAP (Early Access Programm) where you can already download Beta version of it.

You can download it here: Version 8.0 EAP 136.1768, April 24
A good documentation is also available here: WordPress Development using PhpStorm

I am working with PhpStorm since 1 Year, it has become my favorite IDE. Now after it is going to support WordPress also it will become much better (if even possible…).

You have to go to “Download” section within your profile. Click on the Download-Button, at last position is the link for “License certificate & purchase code.” There you’re able to download your purchase code in .txt-format.

I really don’t care if people install themes, offer free customizations, etc. I just think that you should not be allowed to advertise these type of services together with the theme.
This is mostly what I opened this thread about, perhaps I could have worded this better.

I do fully agree to your statement and reasonable concerns. Themeforest should check this kind of advertisement while review process and reject items because of unfair competition, a different justification or the way KingDog already said. That simple I would say.

Well friends this is really good news. It saves me headaches and lot of working time. Because I am just about to finish my first WP Theme and always had in mind that I have still to accomplish all the fixes for IE8.

Now my mind is free ;-)

Only for clarification of submitting new themes:

Phase One takes effect on September 9th. Before this date I can submit a theme without all the new requirements? Why I am asking is that I am just about to finish my first WordPress Theme, only a couple of days of work left (and already spent months of work in it).

Can I submit it for review without all the new requirements before September 9th., and will it get approved then?

Yes, you can. But since the requirements in phase 1 are pretty easy to comply with, I recommend giving it a look before submission.

This is good to know. You’re right about the Phase One requirements, and most of all my theme already complies with. But I will have a closer look at it anyway and do my best.

Thank you very much Siddharth.

Kind regards, Ricci.

Till now I have only one Theme, “Exdress-Medusa (Magento eCommerce)”, since approvement on 30. August I made small improvements to it (some additional functions). It sells very well for my claims so far.

Now, I am developing Magento Extensions for my next theme I will provide on themeforest. Extension one (which is already finished) is a Megamenu with extended config options in backend – on my current theme I also included a custom Megamenu but there are no options in backend, it is a quite simple but nice menu. Extension two I am working (which is almost finished) on is to extend Magento’s default layered navigation with a Price Slider, Dropdown Menu and a Color Picker. Which you will be able to configure in Magento Backend.

My concerns are:

  1. Can I implement them into my existing theme and submit it as a whole new item, e.g. Exdress-Medusa 2? Or should I submit it as an update of my existing theme?
  2. If both are possible, what do you recommend, update or new item?
  3. I am also thinking of to sell these extensions on Codecanyon. Is this allowed to do so?

Why I am asking is, that to devolope these extensions took me a lot of hard work. So I have concerns about pricing when I only make an update to my existing theme. On the other hand, I am also thinking of customers who already bought my current theme. I am not sure what do to, and I am pleased to get some advices.

Thank you all.
Ricci
