Well friends this is really good news. It saves me headaches and lot of working time. Because I am just about to finish my first WP Theme and always had in mind that I have still to accomplish all the fixes for IE8.

Now my mind is free ;-)

Only for clarification of submitting new themes:

Phase One takes effect on September 9th. Before this date I can submit a theme without all the new requirements? Why I am asking is that I am just about to finish my first WordPress Theme, only a couple of days of work left (and already spent months of work in it).

Can I submit it for review without all the new requirements before September 9th., and will it get approved then?

Yes, you can. But since the requirements in phase 1 are pretty easy to comply with, I recommend giving it a look before submission.

This is good to know. You’re right about the Phase One requirements, and most of all my theme already complies with. But I will have a closer look at it anyway and do my best.

Thank you very much Siddharth.

Kind regards, Ricci.

Till now I have only one Theme, “Exdress-Medusa (Magento eCommerce)”, since approvement on 30. August I made small improvements to it (some additional functions). It sells very well for my claims so far.

Now, I am developing Magento Extensions for my next theme I will provide on themeforest. Extension one (which is already finished) is a Megamenu with extended config options in backend – on my current theme I also included a custom Megamenu but there are no options in backend, it is a quite simple but nice menu. Extension two I am working (which is almost finished) on is to extend Magento’s default layered navigation with a Price Slider, Dropdown Menu and a Color Picker. Which you will be able to configure in Magento Backend.

My concerns are:

  1. Can I implement them into my existing theme and submit it as a whole new item, e.g. Exdress-Medusa 2? Or should I submit it as an update of my existing theme?
  2. If both are possible, what do you recommend, update or new item?
  3. I am also thinking of to sell these extensions on Codecanyon. Is this allowed to do so?

Why I am asking is, that to devolope these extensions took me a lot of hard work. So I have concerns about pricing when I only make an update to my existing theme. On the other hand, I am also thinking of customers who already bought my current theme. I am not sure what do to, and I am pleased to get some advices.

Thank you all.
Ricci

I think this is just a coincidence! I often had great days with over 20 sales and suddenly they dropped to 6 to 8 on the following day

Try to fix that bug for IE7 and make that specific buyer happy ( and yourself too )

Start doing some marketing and advertise your items. I’m sure sales will go up again

Cheers

Thank you for your advice, it makes me more confident. I also wrote an extensive, explanatory email to the specific person before I started this thread. I also think that this was not a bad intention (if it depends on this comments of course) of the author. But we already had contact exchange over private messages before the other comments were written. This was a bit incomprehensible to me.

Nervertheless, thank you.

Hi Guys,

important: maybe it is a coincidence, but what I realized after some “unqualified comments” (in my opinion) is, that sales of my item has dropped down rapidly. Before this, and since my item (first at all) was approved it was number one on “bestseller of the week” on its specific category. After this comments last week (especially on thursday/friday) I did not sold one item till today. What can I do??

The matter is following:

My theme does not support IE7 , and there are some layout breaks when you use it with this browser. However, I am aware of since I started developing it on March this year and I submitted it on last August week without selecting “supported Browsers IE7 ”; this was/is my intention. My theme gets improved and sold very well for my relationship – since this annoying comments appeared.

The buyer asked (called me attention to it) that there are errors with my item using it with IE7 , ...what I do already know…and on item details page where you can see compatible browsers, there is nothing about this “useless browser!” However, nevertheless I send the buyer a message, make a response on comments page, that I will fix it (was this a fault?). Anyhow after that he/she posted again same issue on comments page. And after last comment on friday, sales is totally broken down.

Does anybody have a good advice how to handle this? I know, the best is to fix this issue, and I am already working on it, but I have a lot of other important client work with given timeline to finish first. I am really desperated (and annoyed) about it.

Thank you all.
Ricci

Hello,

I was just checking my Site’s statistics over Webanalytics software. I noticed an adress which I found strange, so I followed this link. It is redirecting to a russian site, and think what, they are selling mine and your templates?! How this is possible?

The Site is in russian of course, I tried to visit the site with Google Translation, but in this case it seems that shopping-cart functionality is deactivated; altough in original language it works.

What should I, we do? I will send an extended mail to Envato support tomorrow. I am not providing the link to the site, but if somebody is interested please send me a private message over my profiles page – Envate Staff/Moderators are also welcome.

Best regards
Ricci

For those of you with PCs, what spec are you running for your design work? Did you build or buy?

I’ve been building PCs for a few years now and my current computer needs an overhaul.

My main concern is the GPU , it’s the only area I can’t quite decide on. I need something that’s powerful enough for just about anything work related such as Photoshop and 3DS Max but not powerful enough to be classed as gaming spec and therefore not a work expense.

Hello,

about your concerns what GPU you should buy, i would recommend a nVIDIA GTX 570 – especially this one is very good in Price/Performance: MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III .

You should take a nVIDIA GPU because you will benefit of it’s CUDA Technology, especially when you work with Applications that supports this feature (Photoshop, 3DS Max etc.). You will recognize a good performance boost.

I have built my system on my own:

  • Cooler Master CM Storm Sniper Black Edition
  • Gigabyte GA X58A -UD5
  • Intel i960 LGA1366
  • N570GTX Twin Frozr III
  • OCZ Vertex 2 120GB, 2.5” Systemdisc
  • Corsair XMS3 DIMM Kit 12GB PC3 -12800U
  • Corsair Enthusiast Series TX650 PSU
  • Noctua NH-U12P SE2 CPU Cooler

I hope this will help you, best regards
Ricci

Hello all EURO /DOLLAR “victims”, there seems to be a “Glimmer of Hope” that maybe currency rate euro to dollar will fall in near/middle future. And here you can see why:

This is an excerpt of “The Wall Street Journal” from September 1, 2011 with Headline:

Goldman Takes a Dark View:

A top Goldman Sachs Group Inc. strategist has provided the firm’s hedge-fund clients with a particularly gloomy economic outlook and suggestions for how these traders can take advantage of the financial crisis in Europe….

...In a 54-page report sent to hundreds of Goldman’s institutional clients dated Aug. 16, Alan Brazil—a Goldman strategist who sits on the firm’s trading desk—argued that as much as $1 trillion in capital may be needed to shore up European banks…

The investment banker advises his readers could make a profit now, who bet on a decline in the euro exchange rate.

I hope this will happen as soon as possible;-)

Best Regards from Germany
Ricci
