I happen to be wearing my Envato t shirt today, so I can show you that it makes anyone look the height of class, sophistication and raw sexual magnetism. I often get stopped in the street and asked if I’m Daniel Craig when I wear it. Ladies, please form an orderly queue.
Nice! Rockin’ the T-shirt, Toivo!
By winning wallpaper contest you will get no money, no exposure, only horrible envato tshirt, that you can wear only at home or when working on garden, ot use it to clean your pc screen. Why not to make some more interesting prizes? I’d like to design something to the contest where prize is Killstar t-shirt.—> Envato dont care about us, authors, envato cares only about themself.
Hi M-e-f! Sorry to hear that. It seems contrary to the amount of participation and good will and feedback we typically receive from the majority of our community. What kind of contests/prizes would you personally like to see that we haven’t done before?
Contests are optional, they’re opportunities as I posted in my previous response and no-one is forced to enter them. There are also multiple contests with different prizes. Most prizes are monetary because when we previously surveyed our community, the majority of people wanted money so they could buy what they want. It also minimizes things getting lost in the mail! I know contest winners who have been very thankful for the prizes they have won – it’s helped them purchase new equipment to quench their creativity thirst and help produce more content they can sell as either a freelancer or via Envato Market.
We don’t have to run any contests or give away any prizes but we think it’s a great way to give something back to our community and I think we’ll be continuing with contests for sure. You can check out some of our previous contests here by the way.
By the way, when you say “Killstar T-shirts”, do you mean shirts like this?
Personally, I’m more of a Winston Churchill kind of guy.
Hello all! I’d be glad to help any questions you have about contests as I help organize many of them.
To answer tmcom’s original question about whether there’s a “noticeable increase in sales” you might want to read my response to the thread, “Does being active on the forum influence sales” as they’re somewhat related. In summary, there’s probably no direct correlation/influence on future sales (unless it’s a Most Wanted event of course then there definitely IS a direct correlation!), but, winning a contest can definitely assist improving your “reputation” or your own “brand”. Plus, we do our best to promote winning entries and stand out entries on your behalf, whether this is by our blog, our newsletter(s), or social media so you “brand” is definitely getting recognition and exposure.
There’s also an element of fun – we try to launch contests that you’ll enjoy and be interested in. We also try to run multiple contests at the same time and try to make them appeal to as many people as possible (collectively and within niche areas). Right now for example we have our regular wallpaper design contest that Sam helps run, we have a coding challenge on Envato Remix, there’s our API contest that’s currently being judged, and that’s in between all the incredible Most Wanted events we run.
It’s also about “community life” here – we want the community experience to be enjoyable.
Our simple aim with contests is that we give you opportunities to learn and/or apply and/or showcase your creative skills and talent. We’re very proud of the creative talent within our community and we’re always keen to showcase and promote it as much as we can. And if we can do that with some nice prizes along the way, hopefully the majority of people appreciate those opportunities.
Ultimately, contests are opportunities, and we’re honored to champion the efforts and results that you guys put into them.

scottwills saidMore badges for you, Scott?
abusinesstheme saidThere’ll be some very interesting news at the end of this month, yes, stay tuned!
Any news regarding the new badges?
Ha, ha, I’ve definitely got enough I think, I don’t need any more. Besides, my Community Team comrade Calin / ContrastBlack has more badges than me last time I checked. Off the top of my head I know samberson, dtbaker, theMOLITOR and ChristineWilde have over 20 badges too!
Which other community members have over 20 badges, did I miss anyone?
