If you are asking for a shortcut, there’s none. Grab an instrument and at least learn some basic chords. There’s no way you can be a successful producer without knowing the basic stuff.

Back when I became an author…

I thought earning $100 a month from my music was awesome, and it was ;)

In my experience, any humbucker guitar will do the job in terms of cancelling the rf noise that single coils pick up from the air. The difference would be the tone and playibility of the guitar you choose.

Tonewise, if you are using software amp modellers even the best guitar will sound like crap. For this reason, I bought an Epiphone Les Paul which costed around $500 and I spent another $500 on a POD HD.

So far, the only problems I have with the Epiphone is it goes out of tune frequently and its sustain is a bit shorter. Other than that, it solved most of the noise issues.

There’s still some 60 cycle hum with high gain distorion tones due to my house’s power lines but POD HD’s noise gate manages to eliminate it without compromising the tone.

By the way, I highly recommend POD HD to anyone who can’t get a decent tone from guitar rig, pod farm, etc. Only downside is the signal is processed on the hardware so you can’t change your tone after recording.

There was a crash? I think I’ve lost a new 5-star rating! That’s important too :)

Just came across this video by a frustrated youtuber:

At this stage, AdRev doesn’t seem like a good option for the authors selling royalty free music.

It may not be the sales numbers that make the popular items popular again every week. If you do a search on videohive almost all of the popular tracks on AJ have been used in a number of high selling videohive projects.

The previous week one of my new tracks made it to the popular list with 14 sales and I expected a few more sales since it was now on that page. Guess what, it made only 1 sale during the whole week.

This makes me think that the major determining factor for sales on AJ is videohive rather than the number of previous sales or the popular items list.
