Buyers can contact you anytime for such a deal and you can take down the track from AJ if a deal is made. Isn’t it better to get the whole money instead of 50%? ;)

As for me (just so you don’t say “aha! Why aren’t you non-exclusive”) I’ve put a lot of work into my AJ account and my sales have been pretty decent, recently everyone has had a quiet period, but otherwise I’m quite happy here. So, I’m not wanting to go non-exclusive or leave anytime soon. Also I’m focusing on other things right now so an exclusive one website deal works for me.

Going non-exclusive would cause a serious loss of income. Instead of that I’m keeping my exclusive portfolio on AJ and building another portfolio for the other stock music sites.

Currently this approach seems to be working. Having multiple sources of income is the only way to make a living from music.

But if the only way you can earn decent money here is to be like Tim or soundroll, the 99% rest of us are screwed…

Unfortunately, that’s the only way. I guess only top 20 authors or so can make a decent living from AJ sales. Rest of us need to look at it as pocket money or look for other opportunities outside AJ.

As a newbie, you join audiojungle and say “I make money with my music, I’m so happy!” Then you invest a lot of time and money and two years later you say “I can’t make money with my music, i’m so screwed!” That’s our problem. I’m in the same boat as well :)

....Please don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect to be like Tim McMorris or Soundroll, I just want to feel that I’m get some progress. And I feel a little lost, like I’m going to nowhere.

The cold hard truth is you either expect to be as good as soundroll or be content with where you are. :D

Each year it’s getting harder to sell regular underscore type of music with no distinctive feature even if it’s produced with best quality.

I wouldn’t recommend paid promotion (adwords, etc.) but you can try youtube.

I’ve just seen the announcement and opted back in as well. Yet I still don’t understand why envato is trying to create a conformable license set which will respond to the needs of all marketplaces. To me, each marketplace should have its own licensing terms.

Instead of price increase why don’t we have a price calculation tool based on who you are (student, small business, corporation, etc.) and where you’re going to use the music (website, radio, national tv, etc). Small guys can still license at $14. Nobody would loose anything.

So why don’t we have something like that yet? Maybe it’s the same reason why there isn’t a shopping cart. If Envato isn’t making enough money to hire developers to implement these basic changes, it further validates the need for such a change.
