I use win7 64 bit with 4gb ram. Working with huge libraries is a pain no matter how much memory you add to your system. I open a project and go to the kitchen to make myself a cup of coffee, and when I come back, the project is still loading although there is plenty of memory and cpu power….

So, I don’t think adding more ram will help on that side but 64 bit has a big difference on the cpu side. I can assign lots of plugins and reverbs to the channels and CPU goes to 50% at most.

• One thing i discovered is when you purge all samples in kontakt, it clears your ram space and loads only the samples used in the project and that’s usually 3-5 mb instead of a huge library

Here is a good way to reduce production time but you need a good imagination to achieve this. Try to create the music in your head before touching anything. When you come up with a good idea think about how you’re going to produce it, what instruments you’re going to use, etc. Try to hear the finished piece in your head with as much detail as possible. Then, hum it into your handy recorder or phone so that you can remember it when you have the chance to go into your studio. You can practice it while performing your daily routines.

Extended license cannot be used for templates and stock items unless one gets permission from the related author, which is defined as limited-repurposing in the license terms.

You might not be able to sell it exclusively but you can sell it with a non-exclusive account unless it’s a pro registered track. Generally it’s thought that adding or removing vocals doesn’t make it a different track so you can’t sell it elsewhere (with or without vocals) if you are exclusive.

I think there must be a limitation on the number of items by the same author. I noticed that some authors are dominating the whole row on some pages.

Some genres might become marginally popular every now and then but the one which will always prevail is definitely pop. Chords and song structures will remain basically the same, but rhythm patterns and the use of rhythm instruments will be different.

When someone invents an unusual but pleasant rhythm pattern with an unusual mix of instruments, everybody start to use it and it then becomes the new pop music. Chords and melodies generally stay the same in popular music because regular people don’t like complex musical structures.

So, focusing on creating innovative drum lines might be a good idea. Don’t forget, best way to predict the future is to create it

Thanks guys, couldn’t wait to hear some recording samples and bought myself a h1 today. I must say, it’s a great tool for the price. Sound quality is quite useable and, with a bit of waves magic, it’s inseparable from a standard mic.
