No offense, but I think it’s clear to everyone that the designer(s) designed these badges had no idea of what exactly icon design is and new trends are (e.g.: flat design). It’s also clear that Envato won’t restore the previous system (hope I’m wrong, but I think they won’t never admit their efforts on this enhancement were unproductive), even if the survey said “90% against”, no matter how good and reasonable are the reasons we adduce.

I kind of disagree with the first part(“had no idea of what exactly icon design is”).

I have been vocal and critic of the icon changes, however after looking at the icons in their natural size I think they are very well made… for 3-10 years old kids.

Seriously, these icons are perfect for inclusion in a kid’s book or something, they are funny, cartoonish and the young ones will definitely love them.

However with them resized so small for Envato marketplaces and forums they are terrible. Way too many details to fit in 32×32px.

And the most important issue comes now:

Who are your visitors of this marketplace ?

3 to 10 years old kids ? I would say no, it’s mostly adults looking to grow their online business. Again, we are talking about business here, not kids’ books.

Conclusion: good product(in it’s initial non resized form) designed for the wrong audience.

What is more terrible now is the designer’s replies here that suggest that she didn’t understand anything from 31 pages of discussions by replying with questions like the “icons are too big because they are bigger than the old ones ?” or explaining how great SVG is. Yes SVG is great but only when it’s used for the right product and unfortunately this is a good example for great technology used for the wrong end product(32×32 icons with too many details).

And on top if it, a big thumbs DOWN goes to Collis for accepting these…

Finally, if I would be a part of Envato leadership and have the right to decide about the design direction of Envato markets I would immediately take these off, put the old ones back into their place and add all these new ones to the asset library so that authors will have the chance to put them to good use in some nice templates and wordpress themes.

^ Something like this would have been better (Our humble opinion – we are not masters of illustration). Also with colors differentiating the status (keeping the badges clean) along with tool tip info description.

Or else, simply the older one should be back. In all cases, the new badges are not professional :(

Simple, clean, brilliant! They are maybe a bit behind the old ones, but head and shoulders above the current ones!

I agree with most of the things said here. The paws are way too big and don’t look professional, not to mention that they are way too cartoonish. Also being so huge they take away the focus from each author identity(avatar) that is posting here on the forums. Now the whole forum looks like 3rd rate downgraded website for kids.

The old ones were simply perfect: high contract, crystal clear, perfect size and simply TIMELESS – a big part of Envato Identity.

Please Envato come with your feet on the ground and stop downgrading your network. First we had the progress bar removed, now this along with the new trending feature working on the principle “the rich get richer, the poor stays poor”.

Disappointed.

I don’t understand why they don’t update us on this.
Haven’t forgotten you :) We’ll announce it on the forums etc. when Phase 2 officially launches.
At least tell us if it will be in effect this year or not. Many authors, me included are currently working on new themes and it’s very important for us to know more about this.
To be honest, it’s not possible to put a firm date on it yet. It may still launch this year, but we can’t be exact on the date yet. Thanks!

Ok, I understand. Thanks and I will keep an eye here :)

@simplerain – just to let you know, it’s all good now.

I reset everything to default and everything works. Probably it was a conflict between the current version 3.0.7 and a setting that worked differently in 3.0.5.

One more thing – actually a suggestion for a future update, not a bug.

When being on a random tab and saving the options, the page refreshes(settings are saved) and the framework panel jumps to the first tab, “Home Settings”. It would have been better after saving options the panel remained on the current tab.

I am using windows 7, I have them I sure about it. Strange thing is that they worked before I updated the framework, from 3.0.5 directly to 3.0.7.

Now I see that the fonts are not saved at all. No matter what i choose from the fonts dropdown, the selected font remains “Bookman Old Style, Serif”.

Actually I have a js error in firebug:

Anyway, I will start posting issues on github.

Yes I will post the future issues I find there.

About the fonts here is a cropped screenshot with explanation:

I use the latest chrome but I noticed that it’s the same on firefox.

You are fast! The notice is fixed now :)

Question: now since the google fonts are not included anymore, how are they loaded ? (I guess is better to extend the documentation a bit, since right now it’s quite basic)

Also, I stumbled upon a new notice message at Header Border Option>

Notice: Undefined index: border-color in C:\Server\Apache2\htdocs\wordpress_ds\wp-content\themes\newone\framework\ReduxCore\inc\fields\border\field_border.php on line 138

And one more thing, now when choosing fonts (Arial, Georgia, etc) their preview in the box under the fonts list dropdown doesn’t work anymore.

PS: Sorry I didn’t see both notices so I could report them at the same time

@simplerain – it’s all good now :) got the latest version from github.

Only one thing, with wp_debug on I get the following notice in the wordpress backend:

Notice: Undefined index: page in C:\Server\Apache2\htdocs\wordpress_ds\wp-content\themes\newone\framework\ReduxCore\inc\tracking.php on line 29

Amazing framework btw!
