The Envato marketplace is great. I’ve spent some money here, and it’s the first place I look for design ideas and web elements. And over time my bookmarks have grown large and difficult to manage, and I believe the system itself is to blame.
- No ajax for quick deletion of items. The entire page refreshes every time I delete something, meaning I have to scroll back down to where I was. Confusing.
- Vertical layout of categories with a big waste of space on the right side of the main column. I can’t see all of my categories at once, which means I spend a not insignificant amount of time scrolling around looking for things.
- Can’t move items into a different category. Must delete from one, add to another. Cumbersome.
I hope this feedback is helpful when it comes time to update the bookmarks page.
Thanks for all the replies and my apologies for replying so late. I’m in the middle of taking over this job and there are so many loose ends to tie up right now. But the logo is important.
Just to describe the logo a bit, there are eight lines (two sets of four that partially overlap). They’re mostly just solid lines, but they’ve been done with a brush, so the ends have a nice brush-strokey look. ColorBurned.com has some Illustrator brushes that I’ve been playing with, but I can’t get things to look quite right.
@iWebdezine, thanks for offering to have a look! An email is on the way. Let me know what you think. If it can’t be done for free, then I will have to see about having some funds released for this.
We have a logo design completed for our website. We need the logo to be converted from its current jpeg format into an vector format. Adobe illustrator will be appropriate. It’s not a complicated design – three colours.
What would be an appropriate fee for a job of this nature?
maybe the higher price should be smaller . And the prepaid price should be the one mroe visible.
Agreed! I’m a buyer, and I’ll tell you right now, seeing everything cost $2 more is a big turn off. What was $5 is now $7…oh wait, there’s the fine print, it’s still $5.
I’ve been here for a while and keep up to date with the system, so whatever, I guess I’ll just have to go through the agony of subtracting 2 from the most visible number. But for first-timers unfamiliar with the system, they’re going to see $7 rather than $5 and maybe think a bit longer about purchasing. Is that really what ActiveDen wants to have happen?
I’d already tried Google and was getting tired of just clicking around after not turning up anything overly exciting. Alternativeto.net provided some nice options. I’m exploring them now. Please keep those suggestions coming!
One program I dearly miss since buying a Mac is Winmerge. What’s everyone using for file comparisons?
Thanks, Sparky. Once again, I want to say how much I appreciate all the support on the Forums here. You guys have done a fantastic job and have restored my confidence that I’m in the right place for Flash components.
You could try manually adding labels for the buttons in Flash IDE and just keep the code for links.Sparky, I think this is what I’ve done. Could you have a look, please?
Woooooo hoooooo! I think I’ve got this thing working. Here’s how it looks. Stars precede lines that I’ve added or changed, and I deleted a few lines at the bottom.
Comments? Can I clean up the code in any way? Once again, to everyone who’s offered help, THANKS !
Sparky, many thanks for trying to help. I still can’t get things to work though. I think I need someone to give me instructions like I’m a 5-year-old.
I have been making some progress. I added import flash.events.MouseEvent; to the file, which seems to be necessary.
1. If I clear out all of the original 84 lines of AS and just put in the basics, it works. Please tell me if this code is convoluted in any way. It works, so I’m happy with it, but if there’s a way to make it more efficient, please let me know.
2. Now the kicker. When I try to place those lines from the link above into the existing 84 lines of code, the thing breaks again. Here’s what the full code looks like. Stars precede lines that have been added.
1136: Incorrect number of arguments. Expected 0.
l = new Label(labelArray[i]);
3. Sparky, your code returns the same error. Here’s what the file looks like after I’ve added your code:
Any idea what that means? This is getting just a bit ridiculous. I’m going to have a party when I figure this out, and for everyone in this thread, first round is on me!
Joe, thanks very much for spending time to try and help. I think we’re on the right track, but there were 5 errors. I changed all of the “btn” to “btn1”, “btn2”, etc. (http://pastie.org/465711), and that left us with one error:
1119: Access of possibly undefined property myLink through a reference with static type flash.events:MouseEvent.
var webRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest(pEvt.myLink);
/rant/ Some of the replies in this thread suggest that contacting the author and receiving support in this case is reasonable, and I think so too. I did contact the author about how to add a link and was told by email, “If you can’t code, then this component is useless. ... I can do it for you, but I charge 50$/hour.” Really? How is the file at all “easy to use” (author’s description) if it requires the customer to know how to code? I’m thinking cut-and-paste is “easy to use”, not coding. Sorry for the rant. This obviously isn’t the end of the world, but it’s disappointing.
