You are right prices are to low in most cases, and I know from experiences this hurts. When you sell same model on other marketplaces for 3x to 10x better price. And over there if you lower price, other author and buyer will be angry. You become under cutter. I think big players, from 3d industry don’t want to buy from here because this will mean that they undercut their own business.

If I remember correctly on some marketplaces price suggestion was like this.

Average hourly wage for 3d was estimated around 50$, so if you work on model 10 hours. 50$ x10 = 500$ If you put price 50$ for your model, buyer will be happy because he just pay 450$ less. This was some basic concept for people who didn’t know what price to put.

But as industry is changing I see that some marketplaces have more complex system for pricing and searching. Price should be consider by looking on what type of product is, what is quality of this product, how much time it takes to make this product, and how much are buyers willing to pay for it.

Abut character pricing, you are right it is a funny. Good quality characters cost from $80 to $600, in some cases even more much more.

I hope 3d ocean will improve in time, bring more customers, more authors, and make better prices, but this will not be easy job for the staff, as Envato is more focused on themeforest and new Envato Studio

About big price differences, I think big differences in prices are because envato experimenting with prices, they trying to see, what prices will work best for customers and authors. I am not sure if this experiment is still on. Any confirmation will be nice

For low prices, I think that stuff is well aware of this problem. Making this changes is not easy task. This can take time, even if you have possibility of automatic price changes on all items, before that you need to have some data what will actually happen if you do this.

HDRi have big demand, so it can have better prices. Also if we talk about real HDRi 180 or 360 panorama, that is used for lighting scene, it is hard to make them really good.
