There’s all kinds of companies, and all kinds of software authors.
And things rarely stay the way that they were.
But whether we like it or not, the universe is right on time.
So, you either stay and you lobby, or you vote with your feet.
In my experience, companies are usually too full of their own self-importance or indifference to the individual, to care much about the lobbying, until they miss three quarters in a row.
Its just the way things are.
Only the author would truly know that. I’m just giving some possibilities on why a file may be temporarily removed. Our Knowledgebase also lists several other reasons. Thanks!
Well good. That’s that then.
We both learned something today.
You say you’re clueless, and I believe you.
No offence intended. Just stating the obvious.
And sorry for asking, but aren’t you paid to help customers and improve their relationship in working with Envato? Yes? Well, how do you think its going so far?
P.S. Any chance maybe of a “I’ll find out for you”?
Sorry you’re having troubles with a file. There could be a variety of reasons a file may be temporally disabled. More than likely the author is putting in a fix or perhaps made an update that caused another issue and now they’re putting in a fix for that
If you were truly sorry, you wouldn’t keep giving me these ~ it could be this or could be that ~ [language removed] answers
Look I asked you to show up here because I wanted a straight answer. Not more waffle and smileys.
I repeat ~ WTF is going on with REPUBLIC?
I think the OP hit it right on the button.
Hundreds of designers chasing thousands of dollars and all of them producing the same goddam theme!
How smart is that.
But fortunately, there are a number of good, innovative, solid and reliable theme designers out there, who push the boundaries and lovingly support their work, and suffer the trials and tribulations of the great unwashed, who ungratefully plague them to distraction with idiot questions.
I know because I am one of them ~ the great unwashed that is
But they don’t give up, thank goodness, because they know who they are and where they are going. And what they want to achieve. They somehow know what’s the right thing to do, and which direction and they don’t get distracted.
And theirs truly is not the same stuff as the others produce. They follow the road less travelled. They innovate and they explore new possibilities and methods. Sometimes it works; sometimes not. But its always interesting.
So I for one, will no longer spend wasted hours trawling through endless me-too themes. If something new or interesting catches my eye, I will investigate, but otherwise I will just stay with those authors time and familiarity has taught me I can trust.
And as for the other 99%? By being the same as all the others, copying the trends and following the fashions, one thing is for sure.
They won’t get my business.
All well and good, but that still doesn’t answer my question ~ WTF is going on with REPUBLIC?
You are entitled for a refund as that product is no longer available. I suggest you contact support asking them for a refund.
Did you not read what I wrote? ~ a $30 refund really doesn’t cut it, against a week of unbillable hours.
Now the author has just told me in a support ticket ~ “We have disabled once again our themes from ThemeForest due to a fake copyright notice. Do not worry, we will still be offering free support to our clients. Our themes will be back on the market with updates as soon as this conflict gets resolved.”
And so what, I am supposed to trust them again, and buy it again, for a third time?
Rather than lose a week of my time, maybe I would if I could get a straight answer to a straight question ~ WTF is going on with REPUBLIC?
I do sympathise with you, I have bought a buggy item from here but the other 99% of items are awesome, sometimes it’s just less hassle to cut our losses and start again
Gareth, I agree with you, by far the great majority of items sold here are up to snuff. That’s not what I am on about. Its all this running from and skirting around the issues that everyone does here, rather and just coming out and saying exactly what’s wrong. We’ve paid our money and I think we deserve to be told the truth, and not have to put up with all this petty-fogging, running scared and not wanting to say something that might later be used against them.
All these could be’s and may be’s ~ I still do not know why I have been made to lose a week of my billable time. Its just not good enough and its not professional.
First I bought this theme and found it was only half finished and full of Base64 encoded hidden pixel URLs. Not good.
I notified ENVATO but heard nothing back and so I wrote again.
Then 4 days after I bought it, this theme was removed and no longer on sale.
ENVATO then decides to respond and gives me my money back, without me asking, and I go on with my life having waisted 4 days of development time I can’t charge for.
Then to my surprise, a few days later, REPUBLIC appears again, so ~ anxious to try and recoup my development hours ~ I buy it again, and this time its been sanitized and the hidden pixels removed. As it should have been all along, but its still not finished and has many errors and omissions.
Yesterday, to my surprise, after I have put almost a week into developing this theme for a client, I find its no longer on sale in ThemeForest.
So what I really want to know is ~ WTF is going on?
I don’t want my money back, unless you want to pay me for a week of development time I’ve lost, not the few lousy dollars I paid for the theme. And giving me a refund might make you think you’ve done the right thing, but I certainly don’t feel that way.
I don’t want weasel words or the company line designed to protect your asses and leave me in the dark, Envato I want you to treat me, a good customer of many years standing, with the respect I deserve and be honest with me.
And I don’t want another bullshit answer. Because treating customers like this, this lack of basic honesty, only weakens your standing. It doesn’t improve it and it makes the way open for your competitors.
So, for the last time ~ hopefully ~ I want to know, WTF is going on with REPUBLIC?
I have a US non-profit client who wants some simple peel-away ad graphics done to announce the availability of his different manuals and guides.
The job consists of a small teaser image and the triangular image that the peel away shows. The point of the triangular image is that, once uncovered, it needs to be visually appealing and invite people to click on it and download the manual. Possibly an animated gif or flash.
He will need a series of these peel away ad graphics for each download he offers, so there will be more to come once we’ve done the first, which he wants done in about a week, if that’s possible.
Would you be interested in doing that for me, if so, how much? If not, do you know someone who would?
terence_milbourn saidYes, I’m an exclusive author, meaning my items can ONLY be sold on ThemeForest! Regards
Are you only able to sell to me via ThemeForest then?
I mean do you only sell through ThemeForest?
If not, then what’s to stop you from having your own developer license at a rate that’s appropriate?
No need to wait for them to get off the pot, is there?Terence.
That doesn’t make sense to me, but I guess its your business and your products and you can do what you want.
But I tell you this, no matter what anyone has written in here, there’s not a thing to stop you developing different products, even derivatative products from the same code-base and selling them anywhere you want.
As long as you don’t sell them here as well.
