Thinking about the “odd” parts of this idea, there will be much more problems than expected, such as related to copyrights. You can start with usage of font styles in logo templates, i wonder how envato and the reviewers are planing to go over this issue.

2nd and more important thing will be the Licence. Alright, lets say you have the price range setup at $10-$40 and you lucky enough to find a few authors creating logo files at this price range…what will be the Extended Licence for a logo template…$400?

i wont joint this category even if many authors consider it “a nice idea”. Guys, this is not a nice idea, i mean just read what pricing range is in plan…$10-$40 for a logo design, is a big joke. I know many will now point to themeforest or other marketplace items pricing…but “logo template” cant be just considered and priced the same way as a wordpress or html template. Items at ThemeForest has the chance to be purchased 1000s of times. I highly doubt, there will be a buyer to purchase a logo file that has been already purchased for more than 5 times. Keeping this in mind, envato may need to think again for the right pricing on this item category. I remember the times when Elance first launched, got logo design gigs at $3000 each. Today, i know such prices no longer exist, but i am definitely not going to create logo templates for $10 (or $40 if “i am lucky”).

If this thing goes up with this price range, start to pray the guys at 99designs dont find out this thread…other wise you can expect 100000000 new authors signup at GR and start floating the homepage with bling-bling cliparts copied from else where.

according to some social media news sites such as mashable and techcrunch, google+ users number reach 20 million in just 24 days. This is much faster than facebook and twitter. Facebook reached 20 mill users in 1152 days…Twitter reached that number in 1035 days. I believe in near feature many facebook users will migrate to google+.

Not sure if it’s bothering anyone else or just me but increased use of real brands and their products within previews etc make me wonder about the future of graphicriver. Of course, those make an item look good then using free images but I think that as time flies by it might hurt envato’s image as their authors keep using images illegally from movies and brands. Worth thinking about. Just my personal and honest opinion though.

^ this…for sure is something reviewers must keep an eye on and not let items pass the review and get listed. We know using brands in preview images is strictly forbiden and i wonder why such items still get listed on the marketplace. Authors are not allowed to use images from movies, games, brands, celebrities etc. unless a written permission is in tact. I dont believe, flyer designers got permission from their owners to use the model photos as well, and any other photo used must have an “model release” licence…asking myself, do flyer freak dudes got that licences?

At the first days of GR i very good remember, i got rejected item just coz a “Burberry” like style was used on the item preview…no brand name was displayed…nothing that reminds the Burberry Brand, but got rejected for the reason “resambling a popular brand style in preview image”. NOW . the question is, why today items displaing huge brand names doesnt get rejected…anyone can answer my question?

As for improving graphicriver, it is really time to hire a few “industry old farts” as reviewers on GR.

Hotpin,

dude i really understand your frustration, and just so you know, you are not the only one feeling this way. Me personaly, was thinking so many times to take all my files down and leave GR, but then thought…there must be a solution…something that makes reviewers still “do their job properly” and something that doesnt drive me mad after reading their no-sense emails of “reason for rejection”.

As for the support, i sometimes really think Envato has their support supplied from some customer support service company located in India…yeah i know it sounds crazy, but thats what they give back as feeling…support no longer make sense with their reply to tickets…kinda you always left without a solution.

Then i come up with an idea which i shared many times on forum threads here. I simply build my own micro-stocks site where i upload my rejected items. And to be honest (envato can ban me for this if they want to…i’m not giving a hot about it), i even stop uploading new items to GR since 1 year. I no longer bother to upload to GR as i dont have the enough nerves to fight the reviewer’s so bad taste for design and stupid reasons for rejecting items.

And now i really feel much better, whenever i have a new item, i simply upload it to my own store, price it the way i feel is right, do a little promotion and watch my paypal account hitting sales on daily basis…so relaxed…and so nice feeling…no rejection hassle!! Right now my micro-store turned slowly into my primary income base. Sales i generate from my GR portfolio can only pay my phone and internet connection bills.

My recommendation dude…build your own micro store site and upload your rejected files. I believe you anyways do small promotion for your files…why not turn this 100% to benefit you?.

i cant believe it, authors are supporting bundle releases…guys, bundle will only benefit envato and the authors who have an item in the bundle. While during a bundle release period authors are just watching their own sales stick at $0, envato is stuffing their bank with money…think twice before you scream “oooo, yeaaahhh…bundle again”

Thats not neccesarrily always the case.

According to my experience, sales during previous bundles, were as good, or even better than usual.

I guess if I had to explain it, I would say buyers are probably satisfied with what they get in the bundles, and they cant resist to browse the files some more :P

well, it depends on which marketplace you sell, as from GraphicRiver authors side…many GR authors will remember their sales at 0 dollars during a bundle release. We just dont want another month with $0 sales…thats all :)

...and yes, i am like always against envato’s bundles. If envato wants so much to celebrate the BD, there are other ways…example, why not increase the earning % for authors for a week? Make it 70% flat for everyone for a week! This way authors would want to benefit from this, and the number of authorts doing self-promotion will boast…Which then translates to – much more new customers for envato in the long rung.
