Ironic that we as poor developers are asked to always support everything, while those who make these newfangled devices don’t give a fuck. Imagine when they come up with a @4x resolution, you’re screwed again. I guess we’ll need to work with vectors somehow to get rid of this issue.
hehe yeah that is true. But be honest, it adds to the adventure
And very valid point about the vectors. I believe that would solve a lot.
I am not sure if they are different things in the sense that I am talking about it. Yes, retina ready is not responsive. But when – and since – a theme is created to function on mobile devices and many demos actually provide iPhone and iPad views for the demo, why not a retina logo? It apparently is made for these devices. I do not see the logic in this. Also, many questions in the comments are like “how do I get rid of the blurry logo?”. That by itself shows that this is missing in my opinion.
Also, it doesn’t matter if not all mobile devices are retina, since the @2x version is only used when it is retina. It doesn’t bite non-retina devices, correct?
Okay, I will, thanks!
That is cool stuff! Didn’t know it existed, thanks for letting me know!
Still think it should be integrated in a theme for beginners especially – I am not, but I had enough trouble getting js to work on the logos
Thanks again, Tom
Purchasing themes, obviously I will go for responsive themes anytime. After all, there is an immense shift going on from desktops to mobile devices. Fortunately most themes are responsive, so enough choice. However, there’s one thing that most of them lack: the integration of retina processing.
When a theme says ‘responsive’, it says ready for mobile devices. With most of these being retina and growing, that should mean the ability to upload at least a regular logo and a retina sized logo. But well, I haven’t come across this option yet. It’s a miss, because there’s nothing more disturbing than a blurry logo. It’s the first thing a visitor sees. Crisp fonts and images, but a blurry logo? Why?
So dear developers, please go and integrate retina logos with your themes. It’s a relatively small thing to do for you and then you can truly boast ‘responsive and retina ready’. Wouldn’t that be neat?
Thanks for reading! Tom
I suspected that because buying doesn’t work well from a mobile device, this wasn’t priority. However, I wonder if many members don’t have credits. In that case buying would be as simple as from a desktop.
Also, I would perhaps not buy from my iPhone, but I certainly want to browse and keep up to date with new additions. I spend a lot of time going through them and it would be nice to do that when somewhere else. Buying I can do later, but then at least I have saved time that way.
Number 1 I have done myself
Anyone able and willing to do number 2, the menu? Paid of course
I am looking for a good developer that is able to modify the Elastico theme.
What I want:
1. sidebar below the meta block for single article pages.
2. Menu to the top instead of in the sidebar
3. a few small other things – really
Thanks in advance! Tom
I really have to agree to this. Even though it probably is a huge job, at least Themeforest of all marketplaces should be responsive now.
The first time I wanted to browse themes on my iPhone I really expected a responsive design. It isn’t and it took al lot of pinching to manoeuvre my way through. It would be nice to have it
