I Second that, limit login Attempts is a must have plugin.
Also you can have your host add repeat offenders to their firewall because unfortunately, they will keep coming back.
Also, now that WordPress allows you to specify a username besides “admin”, that’s a wise thing to change too
I love running across companies that I like using WordPress themes from Themeforest!
Especially a cool music label that rocks some killa Drum&Bass like Critical Music
It’s validation of how good the authors here really are. Cheers.
Here’s something that says it works everytime!
Pirenko saidI agree, the majority of themes on here are 4/5 stars, which hardly backs up the claims that bad ratings are given in protest. To me it looks like the complete opposite, otherwise Themeforest would be filled with 1/2 star ratings.
In general I disagree with all that’s been said here. If buyers only rate when they are unhappy why is is that most files have 4 or 5 star rating?
Yes, I know some guys that vote just to try some sort of revenge, but it’s not accurate that buyers only rate items when they are dissatisfied.
I agree as well. In fact, rating an item is the very first thing I do after downloading a file and I start out giving a 5…every single time…I figure hey, I wouldn’t have bought an item in the first place if I didn’t think it was freakin’ awesome. As an author, you would have to call my Mama names before I’d change a rating from a 5 lol.
That said, I don’t know why some themes have 1000 sales and 50 ratings. I don’t know how, but Envato has to make these people start rating every damn item!
@Bedros – Need more posts like this from authors like you who ask for our (buyers) input Well done.
I think Envato could and should do a better job at encouraging buyers to visit the forums somehow. God knows everyone wants the same thing, buyers and authors simply want a good relationship with each other and a good experience. We all get to make living!
@Aphro – You’ve been here a year, I’m still learning what questions to ask before buying a theme after over 2 years here So, I’m glad you guys got in on this conversation about TT, it was on my mind but never followed up because it only happened once and was taken care of quickly…not enough buyers make it to the forums and provide any feedback for the authors (except the usually negative rants) but keep talking about substantive issues like this and they will listen
You didn’t see many white label admin panels until we started asking for them
@sevenspark – you are always the voice of reason!
LMAO Nice one! No you aren’t wrong, it’s the nature of the beast.
Don’t want to generalize but the “picky” people tend to be females in charge of the project…i.e. “move this 1 pixel over, no move it back, no it looked better before” lol
All you can do is try to get better at recognizing these “picky” people before you take their money. I know sometimes it’s hard to turn money down but it’s better than 400+ emails of changes just to have them hand it over to someone else who really makes it look ugly!
Let them dig their own ditch because sometimes, they will call you back and admit they were wrong Just had it happen the other day! Stay hopeful and cautious
Once you’ve been bitten by a snake, you tend to avoid them in the future
And I’ve bought themes before where the author says download these 2 or 3 plugins to make the theme work. It doesn’t bother me Cheers.
I can only speak for myself but the only time I’ve had a WP site hacked, it was indeed because of Timthumb as well. They don’t make a plugin like this for no reason lol. Now it’s on all my WP sites http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/timthumb-vulnerability-scanner/
