When you rip something, at-least do not destroy the beauty. Kids nowadays. ...
First of all, wrong thread. If you want feedback for your theme go to item discussion forum. Secondly, the background of your website is very annoying. Your website is a copy of newyork times but lower quality.
VF saidActually that’s a brilliant idea!
If we have another section like “Top new items”, that will serve as a bridge and avoid sudden death of potential new items. This also technically possible and buyers need this too.
“Top new items” = sort by relevance (correct?)my suggestion is to optimize the ratio between the publicate date + number of sales + rating
so Envato should perhaps predefine or improve the way how relevance is calculated
This is even better. But it will take Envato about 4 years to implement(2 Envato Devs. Guys, no offense, we’re all just know that things are moving a bit slow.)
I agree. I’m pretty sure they are focus more on scaling. Implementing a feature for 3 million users is quite a delicate process. Even a simple search could make the entire server down if not implemented properly, do not underestimate it. Envato is very careful with what to implement and not. Practically, they have no competitors, and that is why they take a tons of time planning. lol
Theoretically, transforming “Weekly Top Sellers” in simple “Top Sellers” and recalculating the page every 24-48h will do the job. BUT there are numerous ways to abuse the system: e.g. buy your theme 20 times – boom, you’re in Top Sellers!
We all know that this is illegal and is not a feasible way to stay on top.
They are popular because people buy them – that’s it.
This is a marketplace and soon things will change its way. Just like fashion, remember the days when we have those wide pants and now we laugh at it. It’s not about exposure, it’s about the quality of your item that make you as ‘top seller’. If your item don’t sell, it’s either because of bad quality or you offer no value to buyers. Simple. Tested. Proven. Period.
While I appreciate this community, I was very disheartened by reading that Envato should stop accepting new themes from new authors as possible ways of solving this what you called an issue. There are new authors who are doing their stuff very2x well and their work is few classes higher that the work of the Elite author who said it (no offense).
Back to the topic, I think Envato needs to partially stop accepting swiss army themes. Hey, in my 9 years as a WordPress theme designer. There is no such thing as ‘Multi-purpose’ theme. It should belong where it should.
My two cents.
Themeforest will become the new template monster and then another marketplace of higher standards will rise.
How someone like @SimpleRain could be ripped in $9k? LOL
We don’t have rules about prices here, the guy you’ll hire will define the price they want. A lot of variables can be used:
- The project difficulty - Who is hiring you (some guys charge less from startups, not all they, of course) - The amount of avaliable time you have - How many projects you already have
This that if is a famous and recognized guy he’ll probably charge more because he probably has a lot of work offers. The guy that started in little time, has a weak portfolio will charge less because he probably doesn’t has work offersAll the best!
Let’s be honest here and practical. You cannot charge 9k for HTML. lol. It’s funny.
“ripping” is when you charge someone twice, 3 times, let’s say 4 times the normal price, how do you call someone that charges you 7/9 times the normal price ?
- I called it ‘Joke’
No, it’s not beautiful. You miss a lot of thing. Typography.
