Hey Everyone,

I also want to give some suggestions to envato in current scenario.

1. I think envato should increase the price of their multipurpose themes by 2x. Please see below screenshot which is from one of there competitor which is selling a creative blog theme for 125$ :oO (and is still selling better compare to their site traffic) But not only envato should increase the price but also the quality of these multipurpose themes because almost all of them look and feel same in design. By Increasing price envato profit will also increase as mentioned in above posts but also the single purpose or niche theme will sell well in there category.

screenshot:

2. Envato needs to redesign, rethink their Affiliate program the current rules are useless and not catchy for affiliates so they can advertise on their site because they can not make money with current referral system of envato. Now a days i hardly find site where envato items are linked as referral first there was a lot of sites advertising envato items as a affiliate when i search on google for some special keyword theme or plugin.

3. Envato should take care of pirated sites where all TF, CC items are available for free download (by doing ddos maybe :D).

4. Envato should make a plugin or verification for Themes so only 1 user can install a theme in one time. I have seen many times when my clients are using same theme or plugin on different sites without any issue and getting updates for all of them without any worries.

I have also more suggestions but i don’t think envato will look into them or that i wrote above. Because envato track record in these matter is not very good because i saw they reply very rarely to these advise that are most worthy by their authors which have taken envato to this stage. anyways i wish everyone best of luck.

Thanks for reading, Best Regards, Zee

+1!!!

Easier said that done. Envato is composed of smart guys. They won’t be on top with out any reason. Sometimes, its easier to throw bunch of features and opinions that are in our heads especially if you don’t have the data. That said, it is also very easy to miss the bigger picture.

(In reply to other bashful comments)

Just trust Envato, build new items that kicks and rocks, and be successful. If that doesn’t work, maybe this marketplace is not for you. Also, be open minded about the competition and do not blame everything else on them. Its surprising that some comments here an in fact baseless and fabricated.

Envato doesn’t need to tell you everything. Its too obvious. With new items and authors popping out everyday, our market share just becomes smaller and smaller.

Just real tired of this extreme blindness in the forums and oh yeah – people flagging my comments ‘cause they can’t face the truth and need a teddy bear to go to sleep.
Me and old Mr Teddles are a bit offended by this. We won’t be inviting you to the picnic. :(

@themeflame

Can you please be more polite at least? These authors are seeking for help (im not sure though).

I don’t know. But while these monster themes are generating a lot of revenue for themeforest, it seems like this Multipurpose Monster Bloated theme is ruining the reputation of ThemeForest at the same time.. Google some TF Reviews, you’ll find it. That’s a fact not my opinion.

That’s why developers should not talk to non devs.. especially if non devs look their at there own perspectives while author looks at different angle.. Leokoo is a loyal buyer here at Envato Market.. and I personally would like to thank you for that (you might have purchased one of my products here :) ) .

Most of the authors here look at this marketplace as a community of authors and not just a market born of capitalism, that’s why they are suggesting price increase for those multipurpose themes or should I say multi-themes..

While some of these theme are loaded with crap, buyers like leokoo don’t understand that.. Therefore, buyers look at this theme as no-brainer-purchase-it-mode.

We authors should better present our products to beat multipurpose themes with our niche themes.. take a look at appthemes.. They are doing well and they are focus on niche items. I guess, we should learn from multipurpose authors how they market their products and stop arguing with buyers like leokoo.

We should learn more about marketing.. My prediction is that themes will be much focus more on niche contents like apps because wordpress is heading into that direction.

:-p
Thanks kyola :p I’ve been talking about the need for authors to market their themes for a long time. you can’t upload a theme on TF and expect it to sell like hot cakes without reaching out to writers
And how exactly an author should reach out to writers ? – the price for for a review is about 300$ multiply that with 10-15 well known blogs and is quite risky …
Unfortunately, that’s how the game changed now.. Take a look at “X” theme (sorry for mentioning).. thats how we should market our products if we want to become competitive player here.. Long days are gone, now everyone is being competitive, fight or flight.. But we should invest some time in marketing too… after all, envato is just a marketplace… like a mall I guess? maybe Im wrong..
I checked around for ads – like BSA and so on, and the X is present on almost any website that will bring good traffic, is almost impossible to compete with that kind of marketing (money spended)

Yes, I fully agree with you. Let’s hope the trend will change soon and that buyers will realize soon enough that its better to buy a samurai to cut woods that a swiss army knife. I’m just hoping that when this trend comes to an end.. Niche authors, including me are still alive..

For now, we should do whatever it takes to survive and spending what we can spend on marketing (even its just a dime). I am currently testing this method by purchasing some banner ads, if sales continue to go down for my niche items. I might stop selling wordpress themes (atleast for now).

Meanwhile, multipurpose guys are working on adding new demo (adding new bloat)

“Demo Themes are secondary”

What do you mean by this? Demos are presented to give buyers a knowledge of the possibilities of the theme using customizer/theme options. They are not static designs. Maybe I don’t get what you mean :)

“You can create whatever style in LIVE PREVIEW ADMIN… You can create any of top ten Themes on Themeforrest.”

Every theme can create a style with Live Preview Customizer which is native to WordPress (no extra bloat needed). No, you cannot because your padding, spacing, typography, colors are totally off.

I’m sorry to say mate that you should really hire a professional designer to do the front-end job. It can become a top seller if design is great.
