I use the Members plugin on one of my sites, what works perfectly.http://justintadlock.com/archives/2009/09/17/members-wordpress-plugin
Imo it’s confusing, because of the different category. When I’m, as a (new) buyer, looking for nice business or magazine template, I probably will not look under the bp category. That’s a shame, because most of them are easy to use without the bp function.
By using the search option with “buddypress” I get what I want, if I’m looking for a bp compatible theme.
Just my 2 cents
I’m currently looking for a community plugin for my wp site. So if I buy one of the bp ready themes on Themeforest, the number of members doesn’t matter for a non extended licence, as long I don’t enable the blog option?
You sure have a point, but I guess most buyers will say they only use the template once, on one domain, and that’s why they don’t need to buy the extended licence.
For me this wasn’t clear eather till now. Most because of the “one domain licence explanation understanding” from my side.
Seriously? For a $35 theme? At what point are we completely doing your job for you? This is potentially hundreds of extra hours to build a “giant buffet of ideas” so you don’t have to be creative or think at all. Just copy and paste your entire client site. Next you’ll probably want us to write your copy for you too.
Can you deliver content in Dutch?
I guess, there always will be this discussion, like the support issue, and there always will be authors and buyers with max opposit thinking.
Most themes I bought are without demo content and I don’t give thing about it. I buy themes not to let’m look the same as the demo, so tweaking is something I alway do and the functions are at least 50% reason to buy a certain theme.
Just my 2 cts..
Profesionally I have absolutely nothing to do with webdesign etcetera, but I started because the foundation (for building schools in Cambodia) I work for needed a website.
After some false starts I found out about WP and after some searching I landed on TF. I was amazed about the differece in themes and functions, so I did read a lot of comments and topics before starting with my own site. Before, I never knew WP was more than blogging alone…
Today, after some years, I have a couple of travelling related websites, made some websites for friends and made the foundation website of course. I learned everything by trying and reading this site. It’s a big hobby of mine today and when people ask about it I always compare it with building stuff with Lego or something similar when we were kids
When I buy my template on TF, so I would like to have support also on TF. I have 5+ author theme’s running and I really don’t like to register on 5+ support forums.
I can imagine for some authors it’s easier to work with own forums, but I think Envato has to improve a better search function.
