Something like this, import a small transparent grid pattern png in library and give it a class name of Grid then:
var sp:Sprite = new Sprite();
sp.graphics.beginBitmapFill(new Grid(0, 0));
sp.graphics.drawRect(0, 0, 2000, 2000);
sp.graphics.endFill();
addChild(sp);
Its more powerful this way, but I will do it base on stage size and handle it on re-size(many avoid this due to clearance issue on the memory on the remove child ) + you can do some cool tricks with it like using shape greed or overlay your image with color base on your BitmapFill Rect

MB(no that i think of it i didn’t see you for a long time you where off for a year or so) .

You are thinking in term of flash regarding CPU , with HTML5 you referring more on the canvas which frankly no one right will step in to that direction with template due to cross browser issue.

CPU regarding html5 or in general HTML is not even a factor for many, there is simple way to many factor that are out of our control like JS class, each browser rendering differently, so as the fish man say “we step back regarding available technology for at least a couple of years” and the key will be clear layouts and great design.

In a matter of budget, no one will step in to complex html5 without truly cross browser unity + I don’t think html5 on the canvas will be so successful as JS ,people will face some complex coding S* and i don’t need to tell you why so many never touch flash due to complexity class . For mobile the key will be application you can already see it with many website as alternative for mini browser

For intense sites responsive/fluid layout is simply not enough,

I disagree, the way i see it responsive layout will be dominate in HTML5 use in the coming years. it’s a killer work and it’s no fun duplicate your layouts for some screen , but i just can’t see a better solution with HTML5 on all screen size

Indeed was expected, bottom line if there is no more developing for Flash plug in for mobile, there is no logic to add it in any mobile browser as this market moving so fast on the developing matter.

The problem now is the word itself Flash for mobile as many will think flash app`s are on the same category as no developing …. Flash/flex developers know what i mean, but the ordinary user will think this restriction will apply to any kind of flash mobile platform.

But really guys who care :P

but what exactly are you expecting from your thread?
Some people putting their sorrow in the drink, some people smoking weeds to ease their pain, some people writing in the forum when they hit a solid wall.
