I hope someone might be able to help me find a theme ideal for comicjams, which I have been searching for for a long time.
Now, a comicjam is a comic made by multiple artists. One person makes page 1, another makes page 2 aso aso – no script, it’s all just made up on the fly. A couple of years back I administrated a site 100% dedicated to comicjams, but because a several different things (like it was a hassel to update), that site is now gone. I have found some “dumps” of it on “The Way BAck Machine”, which you can have a look at, if I’m unclear as to how it works:
Main page: http://replay.web.archive.org/20071229033157/http://www.globalcomicjam.com/index.php Here all the different comics are presented, along with the newest pages of each jam.
If you click on a comicjam, you go to it’s index-page: http://replay.web.archive.org/20071230224316/http://www.globalcomicjam.com/thumbnails.php?album=13 Here you can read what the jam is about, and get a preview of each page currently made.
If you click on a comicpage in a jam, you go here: http://replay.web.archive.org/20071030212745/http://globalcomicjam.com/displayimage.php?pos=-1065 Where the artist can write a little about the page he made, and the viewers can comment.
It’s important that if you click into a comicjam, it’s real easy to navigate back and fourth between the pages of that single story (category).
It would be great if there could be some kind of “sign-up”-button people can click if they want to contribute.
Last year I made a photoshop-sketch of how the new site “could” look… http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f292/udgang99/layout_03.jpg?t=1266840139 ... not that it HAS to look anything LIKE this – lets just call it inspiration.
Nothing for Wordpress, huh?!?
Do anyone know of a theme for WP for a dating-portal?
Can WP even handle this?
Thank you. I wasn’t even sure WP support this kind of technology. I just wrote the author of the CooolZine, asking him if the plug-in works with his theme. If it does, I know where to spend my money!
Hey Boris, thanks for your reply … that’s actually pretty damn close. I love the design of it … all that is missing is the function where it keeps loading new materiale, when you reach the bottom of the page.
... but very, very nice!
I’m looking for a theme for Wordpress that looks and works exactly (or close to) like this site: http://www.motherboard.tv/
I like the way you can keep scrolling down, and when you get to the bottom, new content is loaded.
... do anyone know if such a theme is avaliable here on Themeforest … or, if anyone is looking for inspiration, I think (obviously) that there could be good money in producing such a (news-)theme.
Hey, thanks for the respons.
There are many great webcomicsites out there, just do a google for it. But here are a couple really great ones, that are very userfriendly:
http://www.txcomics.com/ (very impressive IMO )
http://www.pvponline.com/ (it’s actually done on WP)
http://www.comicspace.com/ (not very pretty at all, but has lots of content)
http://www.globalcomicjam.com/index.php (actually this is mine … I’m hoping to get something to trasfer this sucker to WP)
-There is actually a plugin called “webcomics” at WP, that works pretty well, as I understand it. But it’s mountains of work to get it to look pleasingly.
... and no, a “simple portfolio” is not at all enough.
PS: Campolar, you are doing a typo, it’s not “Ur”, it’s “you’re”
I have noticed that some of you excellent coders are always looking for new markeds to enter … and here is one that there are NONE of on Themeforrest:
Themes for Webcomics!!!
As a comicbookartist myself I have been searching high and low for a theme that I could customize in some way, so that it would fit as a Wordpress-driven site for displaying comics. But so far none have suited my needs. Then yesterday I found there are a couple of free plugins and small themes that do just that, but they aren’t really all that good visually. I noticed they have several hundreds downloads each week … so this is really a marked that someone could go into and make some money (I would think).
Anyways … this is just an idea I’m throwing out there. And if anyone wants to go ahead with it, I would be more than happy to help out, as I know what a theme for webcomics SHOULD be able to do.
I couldn’t code myself out of a brown paperbag … and I was just kinda hoping someone had already created it.
I’m looking for an image-slider (where I can set which images are being shown, what size they should be, and where they should link too), as a WIDGET for WordPress! I have found a couple of sliders, but they are all just for blog-posts – not widgets.
Do anyone know of such a widget?!?
