Thanks for sharing the stats guys. Some very impressive numbers there and definitely proves that once you nail down the right focus group, you can get some great “registered” results.
I take referrals / marketing very seriously.Have tried a bunch of different things with different results and actually share the same 0.8% percentage on clickthrough – registered.
If you are just starting with referring make sure you have your links in these places :
Adobe Exchange – Number one source for referrals to all my files according to the envato analytics.
YouTube & Vimeo – Adding your video previews here generates some clicks and also have landed me several freelance jobs.
Without spending a dime you can get 1000+ clicks per month.
I have also ran some banner ads on different sites and the best results came from places which are completely focused on After Effects – No surprise there.General design / freelance blogs might give you more impressions for your money and good amount of clickthroughs, but the interest in depositing and actually buying a file seems to be low.
Here is a month i advertised on AETUTS +
July 2010 4579 Clickthroughs 65 Registered Members 24 Deposits
And here is when i had two banners on general design / freelance blogs (illustration, photgraphy, photoshop, animation etc.)
January 2011 19332 Clickthroughs 29 Registered Members 20 Deposits
The difference in clickthrough – registered ratio is pretty huge.So IF you are ready to spend some money on advertising, make sure you pick a place where After Effects fans hang out.
As far as how much to spend on a banner,i have now drawn the line at 125$
Hope this helps.
Very disappointed to hear something like this is going on.Only the buyers who have used the file have the right to give negative feedback.I think constructive criticism from fellow authors is very welcome, just try to keep a positive tone with it
Wow that is nice! What’s even better he’s demoing it using a project from videohive Go tginho!
That Plexus plug-in is also looking interesting…
Oooh nice! Congratulations Mocarg
Yes Inception should definitely get some love, enjoyed that one a lot.Christopher Nolan scoring the Oscar for writing would be nice.
Also in the documentaries section is a pretty interesting movie : “Exit through the gift shop” by Banksy and Jamie D’Cruz – It’s about street art and is very entertaining.
During the recent months i’ve been watching a lot of movies and usually haven’t cared about the Oscars too much, but this year i’m pretty eager to see who wins.
Any big movie fans out there? What are your predictions / who do you think should win?
Going to start off with Leading Actor : Colin Firth – no doubt about it.Stunning in King’s Speech.
Natalie Portman was great in the Black Swan,i think she deserves it.
Haven’t made up my mind about best picture or direction yet.
...and just to get the RAGE going i hope Social Network leaves empty handed…i just didn’t get the fuss and all the hype…very disappointing movie.
In my opinion,it all depends on the freebie.Nobody’s saying that you have to give out your best stuff for free but something like a script, cool expression driven animation or a Particular preset can be a great way to get noticed and drive people to check out your other (commercial) work.
Good discussion going on here,i know i will think twice in the future what to give out for free and what it might lead to.
Maybe a bit too early to say…but what do you guys think about the title.CINEMATIC bundle would suggest that the bundle focuses on cinematic style files, instead of being a “all around” videohive bundle.
Which one would you rather see? A one that focuses on specific style,or an all around bundle with all kinds of files?
