@Damir: one more thing, regarding the new field. On the item page, when the additional lengths are added, this information is first shown in the technical data on the right-hand column, while the main length is “buried” in the middle of the information. If this was not intentional, I thought you guys would wanna look at it ;) (noticed on the AudioJungle item, after adding the additional lengths info).

Thanks for this. The order problem has been worked on and the fix will be live soon.

Thank you! :)

Regarding authors having to manually input information we agree that it’s not an ideal user experience. Ideally the bots would take care of the work for you. As a short-term measure the new functionality is an improvement. At least now there is some way for authors to provide this extra item information helping their items appear on relevant search results. I hope that eventually authors won’t even need to enter this information manually.

I agree. At least as a temporary solution, I think it can work.

While we’re at it, it is still a mystery to me why all of these data is still entered manually, instead of being set so that the server-side app can read it all from meta-data. If I got a cent for each time I’ve entered the “1920×1080” manually, I’d be a rich guy now! :D Hopefully things will change after the survey you initiated ;)

@urbazon – just further to the reply from @damirkotoric …thanks for the feedback on the upload process. As you mentioned we are currently running a survey for VH authors to help us prioritise and address some of the suggested areas of improvement to the upload process. While we are aware of the feedback across the forums from VH authors and have also received direct feedback from authors, the survey will help us fully understand the burning issues and how best to address these.

The survey is available on the author dashboard and the upload page for footage and motion graphics only as this is a real focus area for us in the media team at the moment.

Thanks for the reply. I already filled the feedback survey even before my previous post. And I’m looking forward to see the results and improvements :)

1) does the topic of our items have to be Christmas, or any topic applies?

From: http://marketblog.envato.com/community/gift-giving-advent-calendar/

Does my item need to be Christmas related? No.

Thanks! ;) I missed the link to the official blog post :)

Now only to think of a way to select the best file out of a few thousands… See you in a few days :D :P

Cool!

But I have two questions:

1) does the topic of our items have to be Christmas, or any topic applies?
2) is it one item per user, or per marketplace/portfolio? :D :P

@Damir: I see this improvement as a good thing. But it is implemented in a rushed and not good way. Especially for “bulk” uploaders, like myself. Speaking from my VideoHive upload experience:

1) You are adding more complexity to the upload page; maybe some authors are adding multiple variations to their files for download, but I believe the majority is still adding only a single file. Therefore the additional field only makes redundancy in the process… Maybe allow it to appear after selecting an option in the upload form?

2) You changed the order of the fields (if I’m not mistaken, file size was located before/above the file length). It also introduces a great confusion into semi-mechanical way that my brain processes already painful upload process…

First of all, I am thankful for having a positive, stable and understanding family, now gathering 4 generations: my grandpa, 85 years old! (unfortunately, grandma passed away a few years ago), my parents, my brother and his wife, and their children (hence the 4th generation). Also, since I mentioned my late grandma, I’m also thankful for being given the chance to be having her for 20+ years of my life – blessing that unfortunately many people don’t get the chance to experience.

Regarding the professional side of my life, I’m grateful for that tiny moment 5+ years ago in which I first read about AudioJungle on some random forums in the vast space of the Internet; that random ‘encounter’ brought me to the AudioJungle and the whole Envato’s ecosystem, giving me the chance to “learn and earn” together with this fun, creative and knowledgeable community. That tiny and totally ‘innocent’ moment literally changed the course of my life – thank you!

Wow! I missed this topic until now. But the amount of creativity and beauty in all your designs left me speechless… Amazing!

I decided a while ago to stop submitting to PhotoDune, simply because the amount of rejections make it a huge waste of time for me as an exclusive author here. If I was uploading photos to other markets as well, then it would be a lot less work (because with metadata you only tag photo once and upload it everywhere). So now I have this archive folder on my hard drive where many (at least decent) photos are piling up and collecting dust, instead of getting the opportunity to be sold here and to make both me and PhotoDune money. Oh, well…

Also, you mentioned improvements and hope for better sales in some of the above posts. In case you did not catch the news, Envato is working on shopping cart, which will make life a lot easier for many bulk buyers, and hopefully bring more sales for us all…

Wow…. I see people here are still jumping the panic/drama band wagon en masse…. It’s amazing, and a bit disturbing, to see how everybody here is getting each other totally riled up :(

Just to note, I am not panicking. But I am indeed worried. I was following this, as well as the previous thread, with my clear mind. I learned a lot from other authors and their helpful insights.

But, I have to add, even though you probably have good intentions, comments like the one I quoted also spark the fire again, and quickly topics like this turn into discussions about who is panicking and who is relaxed beyond any logic, and we all get to “fight” and argue with each other – which is the last thing we need right now. We need to be united here, to stand for our position as authors.

If you are not worried – good for you, I am glad (sincerely, without irony). But let’s not spark the fire anymore, okay? Let’s hope that we will get official reply soon, instead of them letting us argue here and throwing opposite (and mostly useless) comments like we’re playing ping-pong. :)
