We give customers two options, templates from here or a custom design:

Changing the colours of the template, adding their logo, loading the html template into our own custom cms so the client can make ongoing changes themselves, setting up their hosting and email accounts, making a contact form, changing the menu and then inserting all their content from a provided word document for $420.

that´s a very good idea, your costumers choose the template here, then you buy it, make the modifications and everything for 420 dollars??? it seems like a fair price

ooooook i understand, so the best thing to do, is tell the costumer the truth to avoid any problems and just charging the hours of work right?

Well, today i woke up with this doubt in my mind,

how much it is ok to charge for a website, if you´re using a template?

i know that the price depends on soo many factors, content, animations, pages, etc. but i would like to know how big can the difference be between a custom website and one that was made using a template?

for example if you charge i don´t know…..lets say, 300 dollars for a original website (just an example), but then, you see one template that it´s great for this project, so, the price would be the same?

i mean, you pay for the template and that saves you a LOT of work, but still, your developing the website using the template as a legal resource right?

or the costumer can reclaim you later cause you charge a lot for a website, and he just found that there´s other sites with the same desing?

what would you do? or what do you guys do on this kind of situation?

i know that this it probably a dumb question, but, it´s in my head XD
