Also misspelled “parallex” instead of “parallax” is annoying, isn’t it?
It is a fine work. Should not be rejected, by no means. Interesting ideas and colours, full-width version is the best to my eye. On boxed version “free returns” fell under icon (does no happen on other versions). Things that I would change: body text is small (not easy to read), scroll is annoying (especially in shops it is pretty out of place and in Opera it is way very fast)–but these things are rather usability issues for end-users, not a reason for rejection. In fact I have nothing to advice, everything is very good, just a pity that such good job was rejected… Is there something in rejection message what could point to what might be wrong in your theme?
I agree with Andrei. It looks really nice but it can not be for sale. Too small, too simple. You may distribute it for free or keep it for yourself but to sell it… unlikely. People do not pay easily (as usual people do not earn easily), they hesitate to pay 3-5$ for much more complicated things and in the end, though 3-5$ is not such a big price, they often do not commit the purchase. Probably you will need to create something much more extended or very unusual if you wish to sell it. Wish you good luck in further work!
Hello, the matter is that you should present your demo in its best view–with best typography, best graphics, best photographs, best code and so on. It does not matter what and how an user will do with it further (will improve it or make it worse). Your task is to show your demo site in perfect way. That is why in two comments above you were suggested to work on typography first of all.
Also do not forget about reviewers’ impression–they look through your demo and judge upon how demo looks like. And reviewers will not think too much about your users who might improve your faults (or might not). That is why it is in your interest to present to the market a fine-fine demo.
From my side, the notes are: definitely typography must be (not should be but must be) reworked. Tiniest font size is bad both visually and functionally. Sit 60 cm far away from your computer (recommended distance) and you will see that you are unable to read a single word. If texts are for decoration only there is no sense in this type of decoration, there are other methods to decorate website. If texts are for the purpose of reading then increase significantly font size + choose better typeface and font colours. Line height, spacings are be minded as well.
Layout seems me awkward, also photographs are fairly boring, but may be it’s just me. Wish you good luck in further work!
@marlnet Thank you very much for not only mentioning my name (I very appreciate it) but also for the fine long article you found time and were not lazy to write. And in all points I agree with your insight. All in all, we authors, are end users too. We browse various websites daily and we need them to be to the point, we do not look for just “awesomeness” of Font Awesome and animations causing just dizziness (but which are so “cool” though useless totally)!
At the moment I am in process of searching and buying new house. I am digging daily real estate websites. The best one is a board with daily updated announcements–done in ugliest and smartest way. The website is due to be sold at 200 millions euros ( site owner probably are waiting for the one who will give more). I repeat: it is the ugliest website and why would it be so expensive and successful if it was not done in smartest way in spite of its ugliness? This is the key. The end users find there exactly what they need. And absence of animations and ugly interface do not disturb them at all–users get what they need: in smart, fast and clear way.
My dream is to reach that very point in my work when combination of smart and beautiful will be achieved definitely. It is still long way to go, it is a mastership and it does not fall from Heaven. I am trying to achieve this and your article just proves that everything I am thinking of is just truth, your insight definitely responds my own thoughts which often, though, oscillate from doubts to confidence. And doubts are caused exactly by the things other authors mentioned above–it does not sell. “Do what was already done 3 thousand times and you will get sales”–I say myself. “But it is against common sense! In fact nobody needs animations and other coolness…”–I continue arguing.
Well, everything is not that simple. The subject of a talk about the template/theme as a starting point which should be customised further is not to be discussed. Clearly it should be so, clearly, template is just a starting point. But even starting point should be viable, what is the point of same cool animations, same sterile stock photos, same layouts, same niches (or even absence of them–like multipurpose templates) and so on? I think we need to produce more works for real people (end users). Not only for inexistent imaginary creative agencies… Well, at least try to… This is my point of view…

I understand refund can be issued only in case if a product is bad, broken, non-working, whatever else. Otherwise I do not see any connection. As for me, if I meet such type of buyers I stop responding, it works like a charm, my nerves are saved, money for my labour too.
As for rating, this is the last thing which interest me in life, honestly.
Why to suggest him refer for the refund or even worse–to refund him on your own expense??? I could never understand such things… Do not respond, do not pay attention, forget about him. More you communicate with such type of people–more nerves you waste. If today you will stop responding, tomorrow you will get 2 letters from him, in a a day one letter and in three day no one.
Lots of fine ideas and solutions, but what I do not like: scroll, some fonts (and they are too many for one website), spacings (sometimes too tight, sometimes too wide) and centred text all the way. Wish you good luck in further work!
I would add that it is too much of red. Red is hard colour for a human eye, it should be used moderately. However, photograph for Press section is remarkable!
