write good music, keep on writing good music, become part of the community….

....and, err, write good music. And be patient. It takes years.

That’s about it ;)

I agree with Sam and Del on this one. Would like to add that is very important to concentrate on the style of music you are best at. If you do great cinematic tracks, for instance, you will be known as the guy with the great cinematic tracks :)

Keep writing amazing music and upload it regularly. Be active on the forums, be helpful and you shall be rewarded :) Your fame will come, but usualy it take years, so no hurry. I will quote very famous sentence here “It’s a marathon, not a sprint.” so be patient and write good music :)

My friend, I have been playing the guitar since 1982 (13), and then some other instruments as well.

I mean life is a marathon. :)

Be active on the forums

I would like to revise this advise (for newcomers, especially). Read the forum a lot! Contribute only if you have something valuable and relevant for the discussion. I see some people who feel the need to respond to 5-10 threads in a row with p*ss. It likely won’t affect your sales, but you can learn a lot buy reading through some of the threads
