I just wanted to thank envato, for providing this great platform/marketplace, all the other inspirational authors and all buyers of course. It´s been March this year, when i found out about graphicriver (i had seen themeforest before but never knew what exactly it is) and decided to give it a try.

I´ve been working with photoshop for over 5 years to that date and recently participated in a few open webdesign contests on sites like 99designs – without any success.

I also started earning my own first “real” money with a side job on weekends. When i was signing up on envato, i worked there about 5-6 month and it really stressed me and i wasnt enjoying it at all, but i didnt want to give it up so fast.

Then, in march, the big surprise occured: I got my first sales! Not only that, but i also earned 102$ in the first month (and my first item was submitted at the 11th, so it wasnt a full month) Within the next 2 months i could increase my sales and reach a similar income to which i had from my sidejob very fast. The consequence: I did quit the job and could still earn the same amount – with my hobby ! Now i earn 3x the amount and as long as one continues uploading cool items, there is no limit in earnings – Something which would never have been possible at a side job!

I really enjoy working here because as an author here you have so much freedom and its a great feeling to see new sales every day, sometimes even hourly.
I can recommend this to every designer doing freelance work, because it´s more motivating to earn alot of small amounts instead of hoping got the big 2000$ contest which you might never win.

So, that was how i got here and what i think about the marketplace.
