I know that basketball is not so popular like football is but from saturday we will have chance to see some top notch players and teams.

What is your prediction? Who will win? :)

Nevertheless, Hope there are great games and magic movements from all the countries! I dont know much about it, so I dont have any prediction. Meks, who do you think is going to win?

USA vs. Spain in the final. Gasol brothers and Serge Ibaka are going to be pretty hard to beat. But US has THE MANIMAL. Watching him in scrimmages so far this summer, he’s sort of like Charles Barkley from 1992. Too fast for bigs, and too strong for everyone else.

I was hoping someone was going to start a thread on this, I can’t wait :) Unfortunately I don’t think the talent is there at the moment for Serbia (like in Indianapolis 2002) but you never know :)

I’m with CodingJack, I think it will be Spain vs USA. Although with the home support, big guys (Gasol brothers and Ibaka) along with Durant, George (wish I never saw that injury) and Love not playing, think Spain might take this one.

Either way, loving the name change to the World Cup and can’t wait to watch some quality games.

Yeah not our best team unfortunately. But a healthy Derek Rose alongside Steph Curry is an awesome guard combination. Should be fun to watch no matter what happens. I love international tournaments, because international teams always play really smart basketball.

Australia should do well.

Their guards & wings are pretty good, with Ingles and Dellavedova & Exum, and their forwards like Motum work hard (dude has hops), although they’re a bit undersized.

Also, although the USA built their team to combat Spain, I say watch out for France, with their stable of NBA players. Even without Tony Parker, they still have Diaw, Batum, Fournier, Mahinmi, Gobert. They might not be as skilled inside, but they’ll definitely have better perimeter shooting, I could see them beating Spain.

I also think it will be a USA vs. Spain final, with Spain winning it all. Spain (without Ricky Rubio, by the way) nearly beat Team USA during the Olympics when Kobe, Durant, Carmelo, LeBron, and Love were all on the U.S. team.

The players on the Spanish team have been playing together in international play for a long time, this isn’t their first rodeo, while the United States’ team has a lot of new comers. When you look at Team USA, it seems like more of a “B team”—I mean, come on, Mason Plumlee is on the roster? I understand that the guy played for Coach K at Duke, but he doesn’t even start in the NBA. :p Spain is going to be tough to beat!

OMG !!

My poor country is trying to beat USA. Turkey have been defeated by USA in FIBA 2010 Final match and USA won Championship.

I think Spain will be Champion.

The final score doesn’t tell the story from this game, as it was really close for a while! I absolutely loved the way Turkey moved the ball.

Other teams will watch what Turkey did the first half and use it as a blue-print for playing US. US will need to get better against the zone going forward.
