Hey guys,

Does anyone know any good 2D games? I mean, not the old school 2D games, but 2D games developed with new technologies (more like 2d gameplay). Something like Trine (which I absolutely loved btw :D). Or maybe like Shadow Complex (for xbox). But I’d like only titles for PC :D. I’ve been searching like crazy, on GameSpot, YouTube etc, but can’t find any decent games of the genre (I just bought Bionic Commando Rearmed, it was the closest thing I found). I really hate thr fact that eveyone is switching to 3D. 3D games are awesome, but I personally love 2D gameplay as well. And I really miss it :D

They remade Rocket Knight not long ago, if you remember it from the SEGA days: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/rocketknight/index.html?tag=result%3Btitle%3B2

Also, Manhattan Project was quite awesome: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/dukenukemmanhattanproject/index.html?tag=result%3Btitle%3B0

Shank is also coming out to PC soon: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/shank/index.html?tag=result%3Btitle%3B0

I’m with you on the 2D to 3D blunder. We were so used to playing good old 2D games, and then they started turning everything into 3D with those crappy 20-polygons-per-model PS1 games.

If you haven’t played yet, try Braid. Its one of the best 2D side-scrolling game I’ve ever played both among old ones and the new ones. Here is the gamespot link:

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/braid/index.html

Here is the link for the 360 version game review:

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/braid/review.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gssummary&tag=summary%3Bread-review

And you can buy it on Steam or at least can play the demo first for free!

^ I read ‘rearmed’ as rear-med. Then I had to look again.

Castle Crashers is awesome. Not sure if there’s a PC version, but it’s available for XBox 360 and PS3
