this quality over quantity thing is not biggest problem in VH, go over to AJ and see issues there.

in AJ it’s even worse.. tons of tracks approved every day…so many low-quality…
To be honest, Envato’s search system is not that great and files simply get lost, 15-tags (30 in AJ) are not a solution to this since 70% of them are identical in most items and it cancels the effectiveness.

I find myself focusing on tags and thinking for hours about which words will serve me the best…instead of focusing on what I’m here for – creating templates..and let Envato take care of the marketing…

I understand that sometimes review process can stuck with tons of uploaded projects but I’m not sure that that is the case here… Over 25 project was approved in last 8 hours, and in last five days only around 30! Also in the last week from Monday to Wednesday, over 60 projects were approved. So somebody get 50 hours in the first front page line… while other author like today get only couple of hours! From my point of view, that is the biggest problem here for the authors… From my previous experience when new project hit the market first two days are most important, because almost 80% of first week sales you get in those two days. So even if you make fantastic project, sometimes it just pass by unnoticed (I saw that lot of times here), and the main point here is to get at least 13-14 sales to get in the bestsellers.

I know the queue is a bit backed up at the moment but that is due to a large amount of uploads within a 48hr period of time. We are working on it as fast as we can, so just hang in there.

the problem is that the home page is crowded. you can’t approve too many items every day else some authors will get no exposure time. So when you get a lot of good projects getting approved you need to stop reviewing.

The good news is that there will more and more good items on the marketplace each day.

The bad news for us is that you will get more good items in the future so the queue line will not be cleared soon as you say. Trust me. Is like 5 to 7 days for the past few months. Someone also promised more reviewers and other stuff like that but since the problem is the homepage bottleneck having twelve reviewers working all day will not solve the issue.

So is not the reviewers fault as I said earlier. Till the website will get a redesign we are stuck in the line

I have made many suggestions, as have many others on how the front page pulls and aggregates files and data. Like you said, until it’s implemented into a redesign it will remain the same. Unfortunately I or any other reviewer have no hand in certain issues that authors/buyers have in the site design. If I could get certain thing implemented i could and would. Please offer suggestions or site issues to support. Thanks.

Hey Guys, Great discussion.
I’m not complaining either, I believe that the reviewers (in general: on all ENVATO marketplaces) are doing their best, and if you think that 5-7 days is slow… try AudioJungle which took my latest item about 13 days. BUT! when I asked about it on the support if it’s temporary thing I understood that it’s because of a massive amount of items. This could happen on ANY marketplace.

Again, I’m not complaining just saying that 5-7 days is GREAT! compare to other situations so don’t worry and try to be more patience please. :)

There is a VERY simple solution that Envato can do, and I hope that it will be helpful:
1 – More reviewers = More Items approved.
Yes, we already know that… it make sense but that’s just 1 part of the solution.

2 – Registered visitors (authors/buyers) will see a different version of the default homepage. This homepage will show ONLY latest items (yes, just imagine a full page with items) and of course a header so we’ll know where we at. and a few options like the search, etc..
So we can scroll down and always be most updated at the same time on the same page, Also it won’t bother the buyers to see a big amount of latest approved items in a raw because normally if the page will show only latest approved items 99% of the visitors will browse down to see more and more… MORE EXPOSURE to all of us authors.

We can take it farther and maybe even make it update on real-time or by click (like in Twitter on Browsers)... The marketplaces, Authors and Buyers will grow more and more… this solution can solve it!

Think about it like when you logged into your Facebook or Twitter… What’s your most common action?
Exactly! You’re browsing down… more.. and more… same effect goes here :)
And you can always flip back to the normal page (current default page).

Q: So what happens to new-comers, The first time visitors who’ve never been on Envato’s marketplaces?
A: All new / guests (none-registered) visitors will ran into the default Homepage we all familiar with right now, with the current design which shows different things all at once include some of the “latest items”. (no change).

Once they’re registered …BOOM! the default page of the system will go to what I’ve suggested on #2 above.

“Never blame the user!” – Chris Pirillo.

I’m just thinking as a user, So what do you think about this solution guys?

And I want to say thanks to both: Reviewers and Support Team who are very kind with us authors and buyers, keep up the good job!

For me problem is not 7 days, I’ll wait 2-3 weeks if that’s how system works…

My problem is how long our files are in the main focus after approval… As I said from Wednesday to Monday (By Australian time) around 30 AE projects were approved and yesterday (Tuesday) in about 10 hours almost 40 projects.

So, some author gets 150 hours of exposure, while others like yesterday get only 3-5 hours. That’s just not fair! The same problem was with the Featured author last week, when “Addeystock” was featured only 3 days and the author before him week and a half.

If there was stuck in the system (maybe some reviewer was sick, maybe some technical problem… ) it’s OK. But after that you don’t need to approve all delayed projects at once. I think that the best solution is to reorganize and to spread that files over next few days/ even weeks so that everybody gets at least similar exposure time. This way, we almost doesn’t have chance at all to make something with that file.

In the future for authors with this system of reviewing this market place will become like a lottery… Upload project and then hope that your item will hit the marketplace at the right time! At the end of reviewing day!

How about some system for marking staff recommendations? I mean adding “flags” or some type of indicator indicating outstanding\top-quality work in addition to the regular “featured” and weekly best-sellers? The standards should be set by the reviewing staff, maybe add in a different and more demanding project upload method, something similar to turbosquid’s CheckMate?

Hi guys,

just wanted to drop by and say that I’ll be monitoring this thread closely, and will be forwarding all feedback to the appropriate Staff. Thank you all for taking the time to give such useful suggestions.

That being said, please do keep in mind that implementation of certain features might take longer than others, but I would like to try and keep everyone updated on the progress, and will do that as soon as I myself get a reply on the matter.

Also, review times on VH might experience slight bumps some times, but generally they do drop rather quickly under their normal pattern, so really, no reason for panic :)

Cheers.

That’s great to hear ! :)
If we’re into suggestions ..may I offer: raising the limit of the items file-size.

I’m working on a massive movie-credits project that uses pre-renders with alpha channels..all 1080p and I’m planning to create 10 of them..
It hurts me to lower the quality so all files won’t go over 1GB….why not let the buyers the option of the best quality there is?
In this case I need to compromise either in quality(encoding) or quantity(less animations) ...

Just a thought…thanks!

Looks like civilized arguing with the reviewers and envato staff will make your items harder to get approved. I’ve just had an item reject with the excuse they are checking the items very closely and they don’t approve every crap they review, yet, at the same time, they approve a way (like really) more simple similar project from another author.

I’m not sure how to deal with this at the moment, looks like arguing with the reviewers will just make things worse and I don’t think contacting staff will help. It makes you sad but at the same time is just another confirmation on how people deal with constructive criticism.
