i can’t for the life of my figure out why this isn’t working so i thought i’d reach out to the css gods. basically its just a list and every item contains an h3 element with a right floating span displaying the date. i want the entire h3 to act as a link via display:block. what did i screw up?

Works for me, I can click the date as well as the text and it acts as a link.

If your question is how to align the date in the same line as the text: you have to wrap the text “Gaia Framework hahahahaha” into an extra span with the css property float left.

Or absolutaly position the span in relation to the link and then use some left margin to push it over.

Thats how i would do it, minimal markup….
