I just bought a VPS. What security should I install on it? Is there a software or something you recommend for security on VPS? Maybe a firewall?

I have been using shared hosting with cPanel since over two years. A few months ago, I signed up with DigitalOcean and tried my hands at VPS. Where is the cPanel, was my first question.

Firstly, I wouldn’t recommend using a control panel. You need to get your hands dirty and learn to use the server using the command line. There are plenty of DO tutorials, and most of them can be understood even if you’re not familiar with self-managing servers. Command line can be a very powerful tool.

Since zPanel does not setup a firewall by default. The other option I found was to use ServerPilot
