Hi, dear WP authors!

As a loyal themeforest buyer and WP fans :)
I have a simple suggestion or idea want to discuss with you. Everytime I installed a brand new theme, I will spend times to learn to get it started, so I wonder if there is possible to add a friendly guide to theme options that it will remind me what should I do step by step, until the theme init is finished.

I don’t know the level of difficulty and not sure that the suggestion is reasonable, you may see it as a topic. :)

Thanks!

There is this with all themes already. They all come with documentation that will cover installation and many of the features of the theme.

May be she means that a start guide UI just like some iphone app or facebook page, it will be displayed at the first time running and leading users to initialize, give user some tips when they are in operation Process, right? misshut?

It’s really better than a dull help document.

That would be cool but would also require a fair bit more work from the authors but far from a stupid idea

There’s a built in WordPress system to do this actually. I used it on my most popular plugin, but I have to say it was pretty clunky to code (I think it wasn’t an official feature when I started using it), and I never came across any real documentation on it.

Hopefully they will improve (or perhaps they already have?) that tooltip system in the future.

umm as of 3.3 http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_help_tab & http://wp.tutsplus.com/tutorials/integrating-with-wordpress-ui-admin-pointers/

that being said I dont think authors use it that much

Glad to see there is now some documentation & tuts. Like I said, way back when I coded it (Dec 2011/Jan 2012), there was none, so I was flying blind, and I haven’t looked into it since then. Thanks for sharing that.
